Why do people insist on messing with the pixelated beauty of the 16-bit era? That's half the appeal of retro gaming.

We've got 12 screenshots from Sega's brilliant-sounding, 40-game Megadrive Ultimate Collection for PS3 and 360 - with some strange blur-o-vision effect switched on.

Make no mistake, we'll be turning that effect off in the options screen before playing anything.

"Featured games include; Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3, Columns, Alien Storm, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier, and cult classic, Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3," says Sega, pencilling it in for an "early 2009" release.

Screenshots are here (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/viewer.php?mode=article&id=209791).

Believe it or not, many people can't stand the pixelation of old consoles and prefer the smoothed out look that most emulators provide. I don't, but many do.
:)

I love those old SEGA games, so I'll probably get this when it's released.

I don't mind pixelated sprites that at least has some detail, but pixelated sprites that are about four times bigger look even more pixelated compared to the original to the point of having no details what so ever.

It reminds me of Super Eagle in emulators.
I don't like it like that. :/

I'll only buy if they include debug mode in all the Sonic games and have an option to turn off that blurring.

Yep, just the usual filters many emulators have. Hopefully and probably it'll be possible to turn them off.
