Got a pm earlier from a forum member complaining about modman1, bearing in mind he only joinned yesterday, heres some stats when i banned him


2 posts deleted
4147 private messages deleted
IP address added to banned IP address list

User was banned

he sent 4147 pms in one day!!!

I think i should have a look in the VB admin options to limit the max number of pms aloud in one day.

Wow, that spammer surely must have been a big bad bot to crank out over 4,000 pms on just one day.

Lol yeah would be a good idea.

Best way of doing it :

1) Put users with less than 5 posts in a new user group.

(make it the default group for new members)

2) Set users in that group to not be allowed to send pm's.

3) After 5 posts they get moved to a member user group and they can send a set number (site default.. say 5) pm's a day.

This stops people/bots from just signing up to pm advertise there sites.

Problem solved :)

I have it set up like that on my site.
