If Shia LaBeouf and hulking robots keep running through your head, Activision has just what the doctor ordered -- it's bringing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to a videogame system near you. Seriously, this title's coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and PSP, and if you're reading IGN, you pretty much have to have at least one of those platforms.

When Revenge of the Fallen lands in your hands, you'll be able to take up arms as either the Earth-protecting Autobots or the cranky and destructive Decepticons in a cast of characters Activision is calling "the largest, most diverse range of playable Transformers." Each of those 'bots will pack specific abilities and weaponry. On their way to places such as Cairo and Shanghai, players will be able to switch instantly between their Transformers vehicle and biped forms and be able to take the action online and battle other players in new multiplayer modes.

"The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen videogame will give fans the chance to experience their favorite Autobots and Decepticons in an all-new, movie-inspired adventure packed with the thrilling and explosive action that only the Transformers universe can deliver," said Rob Kostich, vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. "We are thrilled to announce that after experiencing the rush of commanding colossal robots on their own, players can challenge their friends for the first time ever in full-featured, blistering multiplayer action as their favorite characters."

With so many different versions of the game being developed, there are a lot of companies to keep track of. Luxoflux is working on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Beenox Studios is on the PC, Krome Studios is developing the Wii and PS2 SKUs, Vicarious Visions is on the Nintendo DS, and Savage Entertainment is tackling the PSP. The PS2 and Wii version will reportedly utilize "the individual platform features to deliver an intense third-person action adventure game that combines dynamic robot combat with arcade-style vehicle sequences and flight-based levels." Meanwhile the DS will get one title for Autobots and one title for Decepticons, and the PSP will be a "fast-paced action arcade title."

Activision wasn't ready to announce a release date, but the smart money is on these games arriving just in time for the theatrical release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 26, 2009. Until then, keep your browsers on IGN and we'll keep you up to date.

Transformers games have always sucked if you ask me. The C64 version had cool music, but thats about it.

Nah, the two for the DS were actually pretty decent, wide open free roaming city, you could find 100 something vehicles to scan including planes and helicopters, it was quite a feat for the DS.
