Those of you who have experienced issues with your Xbox 360s will probably be happy to know that Microsoft's been working hard to improve its console repair service.

"We've improved that [repair] process," said Xbox group product manager Aaron Greenberg, when questioned by Edge about 360s refurbished by Microsoft going on to fail multiple times after being repaired.

He also said that 360s sent in for repair are often fitted with the most up to date technology.

"...What we do in general, the way that it works, is that they will fix it with the latest [hardware] improvements that we've applied [to current Xbox 360s]. Obviously we're continuously improving the technology inside the box, not to get too technical. So they'll apply that when they make the increments to your system."

The exec also reckons that improvements to the console's design process should mean the company can finally put the Red Ring of Death issue to bed.

"What it comes down to is isolating and figuring out the issue, fixing the issue, and the more that we can fix the issue, and know it's fixed, then we're good going forward. We've put the worst behind us on this, but we know there are a few lagging systems, and so we want to take those and make it right."

It's just as well the console has had such a great game library since launch, otherwise...
