Hi, I want to connect two dreamcasts via serial cable for multi screen mode. Since I don`t have cable I`m planning to make my own.... so, my question: can anybody provide me some schematic with correct pin connection or is it just standard - pin1 to pin1, pin2 to pin2.....

This site should help you, however, you need to buy a voltage converter chip... if you find one, tell us here, cuz ill be interested in buying one too...

THe MAX 232 chip is only used because the article describes connecting the DC to a PC.
That wouldn't be needed for DC to DC.
You'd only need to cross over the transmit and receive pins and RTS & CTS pins,
and connect the ground pin straight across between the two DC units.

Am I the only person who fails to see how a serial cable could possibly be ...

Sadly, you are...

The serial port on the Dreamcast was intended for additional accessories, one being the Dreamcast Midi Cable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcast_accessories#Dreamcast_Midi_Cable). Also, there is a Coders (http://www.jandaman.com/coderscable.shtml) serial cable, which is used within the homebrew community. :)
