Though the basic Guitar Hero formula hasn't drastically changed since it first burst onto the scene, small updates have come with each successive release. Most recently, with Guitar Hero World Tour, the franchise expanded to a full band. While you were busy banging away on the drums and belting out karaoke lounge quality vocals, Activision and development studio Beenox were working on updating some of the classic Guitar Hero tunes to work with this new format.

The package of 48 songs -- all master recordings pulled from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock -- is called Guitar Hero Greatest Hits (though that is a working title for the PS3 and PS2 versions) and it will be hitting Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 and PS2 this June. All of the modes you've come to know and love will be in the package, including eight player online battle of the bands, the Guitar Hero music studio, the rockstar creator and, of course, career mode.

On Xbox 360 and PS3 it will have a suggested retail price of $59.99, while Wii and PS2 will be $49.99 and $39.99 respectively.
