k, so I've been trying to get my OCT 2000 DC to play all the discs, but this guide:

1. Rip the CD with DiscJuggler to a CDI file.

2. Go in to a DOS/Command Prompt and using CDIRip, rip the CDI file so that a .CUE and .BIN

file are created.

3. You can delete the .CUE file. Download a free copy of ISOBuster from the net and extract

the files to a directory from the .BIN file.

----
4. Using IPBIN4WIN, create an IP file which corresponds to the game. It normally needs to be

pointing at the 1st_read.bin file, or perhaps a different file if it is a WinCE game. A WinCE

game can be detecting by checking if it has a 'WinCE' directory on the CD. If so, make sure you

take this in to account when creating the IP file.

5. Now you'll need a tool called 'mkisofs'. It is included in the selfboot toolkit. Create an

ISO from the files you have extracted, and the IP.BIN in the root directory. Make sure you use an

offset of 0,0 *NOT* 0,11700.

6. Then you'll need to use Xeal's amazing 'Bin2Boot' tool on the ISO, which creates a selfboot

CDI which puts the game data BEFORE the audio boot data. A miracle. Now the game works. It's been

tested on a real non-CDR boot DC (one of the first in the UK) and it works fine.

this guide is, while helpful to start, lacking some detail, specifically on step (4). how am i supposed to create an IP file? how do i "point it" to the 1st read file? the program IPBIN4WIN itself is just a 1 page panel with no instructions.

To my knowlage, all PAL (UK) DCs support cdrs and there are a lot of fake guides out there that say you can get non mil-cd to run cdrs.

btw Oct 2000 should work its models after Dec 2000 thats do not support cdrs

I have a UK/PAL dreamcast and CDr's don't seem to work on it. I tried burning the Utopia boot disc using bith disc juggler and nero img versions but they just jump the the audio track player.

Maybe I am doing something wrong but I can't think what it is.

Haven't tried the steps below, seems convoluted though.

try different cdrs, some of the cheap cdrs don't work.

also get a ready to burn image from http://www.dcevolution.net/

if you usering a newer version of nero (6 or newer i think) make or convert to a TAO ( tack at once) image and burn it that way

Sounds a little fishy... most homebrew games don't work like how that guide is trying to explain. Sounds like you wanna make a non-selfbooting commercial game selfboot. If that's the case you should try figuring it out yourself since the rules prohibit talk of that sort of thing.

Now if you are burning homebrew, check out BootDreams (http://consolevision.com/members/dchelp/?My_Projects:BootDreams). It's a selfboot kit that I've done in my spare time. There's a tutorial (although refers to the older 0.6.1 version) that explains how it works here (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=21626).

Also I'll go ahead and mention my own IP.BIN tool (http://consolevision.com/members/dchelp/?My_Projects:IP.BIN_Writer) which has some improvements over IPBIN4WIN like an improved file browser, nicer GUI, the confusing "uses Sega OS" is changed and a few other things.
