VG247 talked to John Koller, SCEA's Director of Hardware Marketing, at this year's Game Developer's Conference where they cornered him about a possible release date for Gran Turismo 5.

Koller would not comment on a release date for the oft-delayed PS3 racing sim, instead saying that Polyphony Digital is a developer who makes a lot of their own decisions. However, he did mention that they were looking into releasing GT5 "across all platforms":

"But we are looking at GT5 across all platforms, just to see what makes the most sense."

This quote could refer to any number of possible games, including a downscaled version for the PS2 or a portable version for the PSP. Polyphony already has a version of Gran Turismo in development for the PSP, Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, which was first announced in 2004 and was last talked about at E3 08. At this point in time, it would be unsurprising if it morphed into Gran Turismo 5 Mobile by the time it's released.

Of course, there's also the possibility that Koller is referring to a dual release for Gran Turismo 5 across the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. That's a scary thought.

We'll have more soon.

lol, I actually found this comment to be pretty clever :p

Anyway, getting Gran Turismo cash-ins is something that Sony seems to have been holding back on doing for the sake of the critical ratings of the franchise; and thats extremely noble when you see other franchises like Sonic and Mario making "Mario ski shorts softball tennis 3" and utterly murdering any dignity they might have had.

But Sony isn't in the position Ninty and SEGA are financially, which makes it even more noble...but tbh, I'd much rather them get back on their feet then be noble this gen. A GT Spinoff would sell at least 1 mil in Europe if it was just a 6 hour PSP game. So I'd so go for it.

So much for the "PS3 exclusive"

That didn't last long. Bad sales I guess. ^_^"

paying full price for a demo-like prologue didn't help with that
