If you're wondering what Spacetime Studios is, that's understandable. The indie shop is a new operation "composed of a core team with previous leadership roles on successful franchises such as Privateer, Wing Commander, and Star Wars Galaxies," according to a statement issued by the company. It was cofounded by Gary Gattis, who was senior producer of the Galaxies expansion Jump to Lightspeed.

Given Spacetime's background and NCsoft's specialty, it's no surprise that their first collaboration will be a sci-fi massively multiplayer online role-playing game. For his part, Gattis gave NCsoft props for giving his team "the freedom to develop a game that we have been dreaming of doing for years."
