BioWare take their Star Wars role-playing seriously. So seriously that the developers are shutting down talk on Old Republic's message boards about homosexuality, because it's a term that does "not exist in Star Wars".

Yes, if you care to trawl around the site, there are a few threads that either began as, or devolved into, discussion of how the game - or the game's future player base - would handle gay relationships. And those threads are now locked. A thread complaining about those threads being locked (along with the words "homosexual", "lesbian" and "gay" being censored on the boards) has now also been locked, with BioWare's community manager Sean Dahlberg posting succinctly:

As I have stated before, these are terms that do not exist in Star Wars.

Man, I swear, these people act like they are being wipped and forced to pick cotton. Why does everything have to be about sex and open relationships anyhow? Especially considering that Star Wars was never about sex, it was about friendships, and cuddlyness, etc. I.E. you never see Han and the princess getting it on or talking about getting it on...

...because it is a throw back to a simpler more innocent age, and age of monogamy, respect, and tenderness, not crass sex affairs and what have you. Meh.

Anyhow, it is their server, we do not live in a communism or socialism (yet) so they can do what ever they damn well please. Get over it.

I think the word is effeminate, which all men should be to some degree, otherwise they would make for horrible, heartless, detached, unsympathetic fathers...

I'm more of the mind that those Terms arn't in the starwars universe. After all you have pan-species relationships accepted as perfectly normal, so why not same gender relationships? Never really gave it much thought either. The SWverse is a far kinder hopeful place...Sith and Empire and Del-Ray books aside....
