The Entertainment Software Association has said June's E3 Expo has not been affected by the outbreak of swine flu.

"The 2009 E3 Expo is progressing as planned," ESA spokesperson Dan Hewitt told Joystiq. "Public health officials are taking all appropriate steps and we continue to follow their direction on all measures."

"We look forward to a great event, and to seeing you in Los Angeles in June."

Swine flu is reported to have spread from Mexico, up into the US and Canada, and then over to the rest of the world. The North American continent has the highest amount of confirmed cases and deaths, according to the BBC's map (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8021547.stm). The US only recently confirmed the first non-Mexican death from the disease.

Plus, map fans, Los Angeles is only a few-hundred kilometres from the Mexican border, meaning the ESA may have more of a problem organising an event for a predicted 40,000 attendees - both national and international - than it is letting on.

Is it pointless planning a summertime trip to Australia if the swine flu threat might prevent traveling? I'm desperately hoping to travel to Australia in July, but am hesitant to buy tickets or put too much planning into the trip otherwise because of the whole swine flu thing...what if by summer we won't be able to leave the country? Obviously there's no way to predict the future, but does anyone have any advice? And if i buy tickets now, could they be refunded in case things get that severe?

you would be better of asking your travel agent or whoever you are going to fly with if you can get a refund, or get travel insurance.
