I was just searching around on the sega of japan website using babelfish translator and I found some hardware for dreamcast that I have never heard of before.
The Sega Karaoke Unit:

I remember seeing the camera in Popular Science a few years back. Would have been cool back then. Digital Cameras weren't that common yet.

I just did some hunting. The camera was released in Japan as the Dreameye. There is one currently on sale on ebay for about $55. Here is a link to some pictures of the dreameye from different angles.

I have all three iteams here (Hello Kitty, DreamEye, Karaoke Unit).
The DreamEye should have been also released in Europe in late 2001, but it was canceled in the end. But a few European press shots exist.
Some of our other equipment:

Did you post a pic a while ago on dcemulation.com? One of the coders there has a DreamKara.

How does the DreamKara exactly work? Is there any trouble in pluggin it to a 220V DC?
The DreamEye also looks great... And it normally is quite cheap, I hope i can get one some day.
It's a shame that the mp3 vmu was never released.

DreamKara requires a 110/120v power supply, because you plug it into the wall, then it powers the dreamcast through a crossover cable. The other downsides to it are that it can't be used with the vga box at all. It simply doesn't have the pins to do so. The software for it is also pretty bad, you must subscribe to a service and pay in order to download the songs you want.

Yes, it would start to smoke and maybe even burn.

Hm thanks for that. It might not be a good investment after all.

That wouldn't be nice :D Luckily I'm always careful before plugging things, especially videogame items.

One thing that always got me was how the Dreameye has the blue logo on it rather than the orange one, even though it was only released in Japan...

Are you sure, I think it came out in euro land too... Or atleast it came very close to being launced before canned.

Nope, I don't recall Sega Europe ever really mentioning anything about it getting a Euro release.
