A slew of gamers have reported that their Xbox 360s are repeatedly crashing after they downloaded Microsoft's latest software update for the next-gen console over Xbox Live.

Past updates have occasionally caused isolated problems but, within hours of the new update hitting Microsoft's Live service, the official Xbox forums were packed with gamers giving accounts of errors on 360s that had never crashed before.

Microsoft is looking into the problem right now but if your Xbox 360 is crashing you should contact Microsoft's well-regarded support helpline. It's a free call and the number is 0800 587 1102.
