View Full Version : PSPXTI: A TI-92 Calculator emulator v1.0.0
zx-81
March 15th, 2006, 11:15
(News Submission & Release by zx81)
Hi all,
XTiger is an unix emulator (under X Window) of a TI-92 calculator (Texas instruments).
It was originally written by Jonas Minnberg and was closed source.
Jonas Minnberg has not worked on XTiger for quite a while and he gave Misha Nasledov the code and permission to GPL it.
I've sucessfully modified and port the source code of the 0.8 version using PSPSDK environment.
It's now working fine on PSP !
The package is under GPL Copyright and sources are included.
I've tested it only on PSP with FW 2.5 using Fanjita GTA loader, but it seems to work also on 2.x, and a 1.5 FW version is also include (generated using upspear 0.1).
Many TI92 stuff can be found on the following urls :
http://www.ticalc.org, and on the texas instruments web site http://education.ti.com
You need the rom of your TI-92 or TI-92 plus, but it is NOT part of the PSPXTI package because it is the property of Texas Instruments !
Enjoy,
Zx.

Here is another version with "aqua" skin.
Nostalgic people should prefer the previous one, but i'd like this aqua version !
:)
Edit: Thx to SubZero for PSP FW1.5 testing :)

This emu works very well with the ti92 rom (1M).
But i think there's a pb with ti92+ rom (2M).
zx-81
March 15th, 2006, 22:16
@Unicorn: i've tested pspxti on 2.5 FW, CousinWeb on 2.0 and SubZero on 1.5FW, so the problem should be the ROM you use. The TI92 ROM version is 1Mb length.
@CousinWeb: for me it works with TI92+ ...
@Rein: thanks :D

This emu works very well with the ti92 rom (1M).
But i think there's a pb with ti92+ rom (2M).
You have to remove the file ti92.mem in the pspxti directory, when you change the rom (between TI92 and TI92+).

That's what I have done zx81,
I think this pb is due to the fw 2.0.
Am i the only one fw 2.0 user who have this pb?

Perhaps now you will can select all buttons in the calc keyboard?

@SubZero: lol !
@CousinWeb: Yes of course. By the way, all unmapped keys (such as arrows, Hand and the F1 Function Key) are directly mapped to PSP buttons ... :)

I am with cousin web's earlier post.
I got the TI92.rom to work but not the TI92p_1.rom even after renaming it, but i have been a TI fan since middle school. Any help would be appreciated. This is a great app. Keep up the great work.

I have been all over and used many "different" files. I have even tried it with the .sav file but it still will not run the 92+.

Great work!! One small issue...
Using 1.5, I can't seem to move the cursor to the function keys?
I press the analog up on Q and it just stays on Q?
Are they working for others?

probably an obvious find for most, but i couldnt find the manual on TI's site. Here is the guidebook for TI-92:

After playing with this for an hour, i can say i'm extremely happy with it.
This is way better than i expected for a first release that took 2-3 days to port.
My ti84+ silver edition is already obsolete, although, there are a couple things i would like to see in the next release though.
333mhz overclock
the ability to swap analogue and d-pad control
(i list those as suggestions, not demands)
Anyways, zx81, you are a god.
tomorrow i'm going to show this to my math teacher. =D

if this one is the right rom then it means that the ti92 plus rom doesn't work with FW 1.5. Because I have tried several roms but only ti92 rom work not ti-92 plus. So plz recheck it thx.

I'm trying on FW1.5 with the TI-92 ROM from the link provided in this thread. I get the error "The Game could not be started (80020130)" Both PSPXTI 1 and PSPXTI~2% folders are in the GAME folder and I placed ti92.rom into PSPXTI 1. am I missing something?
glitch
March 16th, 2006, 09:03
umm yea this is BS for 1.5 neither 92 plus or the normal 92 rom works and I have tried downloading 92 plus twice from 2 different sources and the normal one from 2 different sources.
*UPDATE*
I got it to work
1) make SURE you are using the NORMAL TI-92 bios
2) If you did use TI-92 plus make sure to delete it and its .mem file
3) do not download the TI-92 rom image from a chinese website.

omg thanks for creating this on the psp, hehe i brought to class and my teacher was like wow now u have a reason to have ur psp on u in class thanks soo much. yea it would be a nice feature to switch between analog and d-pad because i feel the analog is not as responisve as it should be. its only a suggestion and i'm grateful for this program keep up the good work.
