Found this over at pspita (http://www.psp-ita.com/?module=news&id=27225&view_reply=1)

New news coming from the forum MforMature. It appears that Dave and his team are working on an update to the firmware ChickHEN of 5:03 in which new features will be introduced. Has not been announced but no date of issue.
More to follow.

Additional features:

Quote:

- XMB / Game Version Spoofing
- Photo menu redirections
- Patch Playstation Network
- Hide pic1 (already present on CF)
- NandGuard
- System Settings / MAC Address Spoof Version
- VSH Menu
- Plugins
- High Memory for PSP 2000/3000
- Compatibility with some modules M33

Looks interesting for those newcomers to PSP Homebrew :)

How about improving on stability rather then the features? And properly addressing what PSP this ChickHEN does and does not work on.. there are still many who can't even get this thing booted. I am one of them. I have been around the scene near the beginning and have ran many Hens & Downgraders etc. Even some of the old tiff exploits.. yet this one is bothersome.

I have tried the exploit in PICTURE & PHOTO
I have tried different memory cards.
I have tried formatting the memory cards first.
I have restored PSP to default settings.
The Firmware is 5.03.
I have tried different battery's.
I have tried NO UMD & with UMD.
I have tried with the exploit in a folder and outside of one.
I've tried those alleged 100% ChickHEN methods as well.

The PSP I am trying to load this HEN on is a Ceramic White Japanese PSP Slim 2000. It had 4.01 on it before I upgraded to 5.03, this PSP was brand new out of the box as well. It has the newest motherboard in it which can't be pandorized.

It also seems my Japanese PSP is not the only one having problems booting this HEN. At least the 2000 version.

Hopefully they will work on the stability of the tiff like stated above, as I usually have to try it at least 5 times in a row before it works. And to the person above, you HAVE tried it multiple times over and over again, correct?

I've been running it on a Silver PSP 3000 and it works just great after you get it started.

Ofcourse. I have literally tried it hundreds of times over and over.

looking forward to R3. great effort by team typhoon/davee.

@Nikolaos, try with slim tiff in 'picture' but not in the chickhen folder (which was also in 'picture') and h bin at the root. deleted any egg hunt.bin and tried again. worked fine. i tried an installer to see where it placed the files. it put them in a place where it wouldn't work! the above config works for me (psp3001)

As stated above, I tried all them things already.

I remember with the old 2.71/2.80 HENs that sometimes having a custom wallpaper made it work better. Perhaps something similar is going on here: do you use a custom wallpaper or theme? If so, try turning it off. If not, try setting one.

Have tried that as well lol. I first started to try it with my own wallpaper and theme.. then People were saying they had better success with default settings so then I started to use that. No luck.. I have done some googling and find that a lot of the people who don't have success with this have Slim 2000 jap psps.

So ya, I have come to the conclusion it doesn't work on PSP-2000 JAPAN TA088V3 mobos.

I really don't see the point, why not just keep it how it is, all these features can be obtained with compatible downgraders anyway. R2 is how I got my 5.03 OFW > 3.71CFW > 5.00 M33-6 CFW.

On phat/Slim at least, fair enough this could be useful for the 3000's and the whajamaflip battery users.

My problem with the Chickhen is that the PSP shutdown after the exploit ran. So I'd go for stability before new features.

Dude, I had the same problems as you.
And after I Set "Character set" to US(437). It worked just fine!

So you should try that ! ;)

Yep, I wasn't able to run ChickHEN either
I tried most of the things you said and yeah it never worked.

I was trying it on a friend's PSP which was a PSP slim 2010 (that number is for region code, in this case Mexico). So, it doesn't work with Mexican TA088v3 motherboards.

I asked a guy who knows more about this stuff than me (yeah i can't believe it either :p) and he told me there are Four different versions of the TA088v3 mobos and ChickHEN only works with one of them

They should be addressing the compatibility issues

Maybe it is as simple as that, I might give it a try
