Whilst Wii Fit’s seven-week long stint at the top of the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 may have been bought to a halt by THQ’s next-gen fighter UFC 2009 this week, casual titles continue to perform well at UK retail with two top-level casual outing debuting high.
Nintendo’s ongoing RPG success Pokemon Platinum, a combined remake of its GBA duo Diamond and Pearl, enters the listings in second spot, one space ahead of EA’s Wii Fit contender EA Sports Active.
Wii Fit itself, which is still just two no.1 titles away from equally Eidos’ all-time record of 18 number ones enjoyed by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, falls to fourth. Elsewhere in the Top Ten there are casual titles aplenty – Nintendo’s Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii claim 7th and 8th respectively, with Ubisoft’s My Fitness Coach grabbing ninth.

And that’s not the end of the casual influence either, with many other titles holding firm in the listings – Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (11th), Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training (16th), Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie (22nd), 2KPlay’s Carnival: Funfair Games (25th), Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour (27th), D3P’s Ben 10: Alien Force (28th), THQ’s Big Family Games (30th), LucasArts’ LEGO Indiana Jones (32nd), Nintendo’s Mario Kart DS (33rd), Sega’s Superstar Tennis (34th) and EA’s Trivial Pursuit (40th).
