“For every Carnival Games there is a BioShock and for every Wii Fit there is a Resident Evil 5”
Speaking to CasualGaming.biz as part of its Girl Gaming Month, Nintendo’s UK Wii product manager Rob Lowe has stated that the rise in popularity of casual software has not had any detrimental affect on the importance of hardcore titles in the market.
“There is clear room for both and any publisher can demonstrate clear value in both casual and hardcore,” Lowe stated. “For every Carnival Games there is a BioShock and for every Wii Fit there is a Resident Evil 5.
Regarding Nintendo’s own output, Lowe added that Nintendo remains focused on its core title selection – and that many of its supposedly ‘core’ titles still appeal to its dedicated fanbase.
“For every Wii Fit, Brain Training and Nintendogs title we release we also release a Super Mario Galaxy, Professor Layton, Smash Bros, Metroid and so on. That's not even taking into account the huge number of core gamers who enjoy our Touch Generations range just as much as those who are new to gaming do.”

most people who own the wii only play wii sports or wii fit.

I don't know about anyone else but I wish there was a 'core' game out on the Wii for every Nintendogs that there is. There would be a LOT of 'core' games out instead of just the two that he listed (Professor Layton, while a great game is a newer title that has only seen releases on the DS and is therefore not a 'core' game and Super Mario Galaxy is not a 'core' game. 'Core' Mario is platforming, mushroom eating, goomba stomping, princess saving fun and not this "collect all 3 zillion power stars yet again" crap that they've been pulling).

Seriously! Where are all of these 'core' games these Nintendo folks keep talking about?!?!:confused: And yes, I know Punch Out! just came out on the Wii, and it is a 'core' game and for the record, if you haven't played it, they did a great job with it.

LOL glad I like both "core" and "casual" and could care less about this argument.
