Film director lauds Microsoft’s Natal, but is currently working with Ubisoft for the upcoming Tintin title

Though Steven Spielberg announced he is working with Microsoft to deliver Natal-based games, a videogame edition of the director’s upcoming Tintin movie is being developed by Ubisoft.

Speaking at its E3 conference, Ubisoft announced that its Montpellier studio will be working on a game based on the upcoming Tintin movie.

Ubisoft said it is collaborating with Spielberg, who’s directing the movie, as well as producers Peter Jackson and Kathleen Kennedy.

The game is scheduled to launch in-line with the film, set for release in the fourth quarter of 2011.

"We're incredibly excited to have the opportunity to work on the Tintin game,” said Christian Salomon, VP of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft.

"We're honoured to bring one of the world's most iconic comic characters to life in this new title.”

The Tintin movie will be animated in 3D with a strong reliance on cutting-edge motion-capture tech. Similarly, Ubisoft stated that the game will be using “state-of-the-art, next-generation performance capture.”

Ubisoft Montpellier was the outfit responsible for the game edition of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, a title which received generally favourable reviews upon its release.
