Well, I don't use this, so I'm not sure if this is right, but try making a folder called ISO on the root of your memory stick, by the way, for future reference, you're not supposed to ask about isos here

You need have 5.03 official Sony firmware, you can download it here:

http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1645

Just install that firmware then follow the instructions for the cfw installer

works a treat. you can format the memory stick and it will provide the correct folders for you. place the required files in there. if you cold boot you will loose gen A and have to start again. i formatted in gen A then re installed chickhen r2 and Gen A. probably keep them there so i can re-install whenevr needed.

When using the LAUNCH-ME, be sure that you specify what drive letter your PSP is. (The very last option left blank at default - just put in the letter by itself, ie g) That should fix it.

Edit:
@Zin0099:
If your psp shuts down (either manual or crash) you'll have to get your psp into HEN mode (using ChickHEN R2) and then use the installer again to get back into CFW mode. Just be sure to remove the flasher file it creates when you first install it.

When I run the installer from the game menu, the screen goes black for a bit and shows a message stating ms0:/files/systemctrl_02g.prx not found! Aborting! and then it just goes right back to the dash.

Edit: I'm a PSP mod n00b. I thought I had a psp-3000 but it's a 2000. Specifically a Slim v1.0, TA-085. Anyway, I was able to get that working, but when I hit O to reboot in custom flash, the screen goes black, the power light stays on for about 10 seconds then the memory stick activity light flashes for a split second and the system shuts off.

So let me see if I get this right. If I install this CFW on a psp 3006 with chickHEN, does this mean that after a cold boot, both the CFW AND ChickeHEN are lost, and it means I have to re-enable chickHEN and use the .exe file to reinstall the CFW? Please answer - I'm a newbie, and I certainly don't wan't to do anything stupid and brick my 3006.

TIA

Hi,
I found this post via Slashdot and I'm glad my PSP-3000 is finally hackable. My only concern is that the EXE files in the zip are showing to be infested with trojans.

I am a bit hesitant to try this due to these av results.

So, even though nobody has had problems, you insist on not downloading this because you think that it has a virus?

If everyone chooses to jump off a bridge, should you?

I mainly wanted to inform everyone about the AV results. I convinced myself to 'jump off the bridge'. I got my PSP hacked fine and I have not noticed any proublems with my computer.

jorsimoes:
With the CFW loaded press select and change the UMD ISO MODE to either M33 Driver or Sony NP9660. I had this proublem and RainMotorsports at PSP-Hacks.com had the answer in his tutorial.

Having a pretty weird problem, and since this is new, I can't find any record of it happening before.

I boot into ChickHEN R2 and I can run homebrew and such. After that, I try to go into the Installer-Loader for Gen-A, and it says I've flashed the CFW. However, when I hit O to restart, the screen goes black and eventually, the PSP just shuts off. I restart in OFW without ChickHEN.

Any ideas? Running on a TA-083v3 PSP-2000.

Well my PSP-1000 was stolen and I lost some rare games with it. I had backed up all of my games, and now I was hoping to use my backups again so it wouldn't happen again, but I don't think CFE can load those so...

FireHeaD12 and Diogalesu,
When you connect your PSP it will be assigned a drive letter. You need to enter that drive letter into the "PSP Unite Drive:" box before you hit the start button. If that does not work then you can manually copy the files to the PSP (I cant remember exactly where you put them right now).

Diogalesu
June 10th, 2009, 00:26
I put the files in the GAME folder manually.

though now I am having another problem relating to when I start the installer, it states that it can't find the systemcontrol files or something like that

Ifandbut
June 10th, 2009, 00:42
Diogalesu,
Are you sure you are in HEN mode? When your psp restarts check it's firmware version, it should say something like 5.03 ChickHEN. If you are there then you sould be able to run the firmware installer. Hit the right bumper, when it says successful hit O to reboot. Firmware version should have changed to 5.03GEN-A.

Diogalesu
June 10th, 2009, 01:35
It is in HEN mode, I can start the installer up but it gets an error relating to the system control files (says: cannot find systemcntrl_02g. not found)

Ok, I just posted a tutorial.

I think the proublem is that the files should not be in the game folder. They should be in a folder called "files" in the root of your PSP. Try that.

I should have mentioned this eariler too, but I am using a PSP 2001, with a TA-V88 v1/v2 mother board, if this helps any

I had the problem with the screen going black with 5.03 GEN, I fixed it by backing up save files on mem card, then formatting mem card. I also reset my 3001 psp to factory default settings, then turned off umd autoload and umd cache. after that, I tried to install 5.03GEN again and it worked perfectly. I just bought my PSP a month ago, and was bummed at first about the lack of hacks. But that is all better now

Also, I cant find a clear answer, but does anyone know how to get FF7 to play? Everytime I try to start a new game, the screen goes black, Then nothing. No crash, it just freezes.; BTW, that is with 5.03GEN

Make sure you're using ChickHEN R2, not R1. If it's R2, it'll say so in the System Settings -> System Information section of the XMB. Try deleting the 'files' folder in the root of your memory stick and also the installer folder in PSP -> Games, then run LAUNCH-ME and give it another shot.

I have a question regarding Gen-a. I love the program by the way! easiest way to cfw! But my question is about the umd usb mode. If I were to copy my umd on my memory stick but the umd needed a higher firmware(say the upcoming Broken destiny, Which I'll be guessing needs 5.50) as an iso would it work on 5.03 gen-a?

ChickHEN R2 doesn't allow for CSO or ISO play, you must use the GEN-A custom firmware from this thread. ChickHEN R2 is step one in a two-step process in allowing your PSP to play cso/iso backups and homebrew code.

When you plug your PSP into your computer, your computer assigns a drive letter to it just like if you had plugged in a USB flash drive or something. On my computer it is assigned the letter G.

Open My Computer when you've plugged in your psp and started the USB connection to see what drive letter your computer has assigned to it and make sure you ONLY ENTER THE LETTER of the drive in launch-me.exe, DO NOT include the ':'.

Example: If PSP is assigned drive letter G, simply enter the letter G, nothing else.

I think you need to update your .net framework. Try this:

Note that the launch-me.exe step must be done while ChickHEN R2 is currently running on your PSP. You should get a folder named 'files' in the root of your memory stick. That 'Installer' folder is also normal. If you have ChickHEN R2 running, all you do is go to games and run Installer-Loader and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also note that when you click Start in Launch-Me.exe it will say "done" almost instantly but it takes a few seconds for all the files to be written to your memory stick so just watch for the Memory Stick activity light to stop flashing before you end the usb connection.

Step 01 - Download this: http://downloads.exophase.com/pub/506

Step 02 - Download this: http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=214906

Step 03 - Get ChickHEN R2 running on your PSP (may take multiple tries, it doesn't always work the first time...or the second...or third...)

Step 04 - Enable USB connection between your computer and your PSP (Within ChickHEN R2)

Step 05 - Run 'launch-me.exe' from the 5.03 GEN-A folder

Step 06 - Check PSP 2000 or PSP 3000, depending on what model you have and enter the drive letter of your PSP (Windows Explorer will show you what letter this is. Enter ONLY the letter, nothing else.) and click 'start'

Step 07 - Do not disconnect your PSP from your computer until the Memory Stick Activity light has stopped blinking.

Step 08 - Navigate to Games -> Launcher-Installer on your PSP and run it. Press L or R to flash the CFW and then press O to reboot.

Step 09 - You're done. Remember not to fully shut down your PSP if you can help it; just put the unit in standby and the CFW will be loaded indefinitely.
