While motion controls are looking to become a standard across all three major platforms, Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot believes that the traditional controller is still be the best option for big action games.

'The current pad for gamers is giving them a lot,' Guillemot told CNBC in an interview, 'They play for hours, so they don't want to get up and down. They don't want to be tired after five minutes. These games are about reactivity.'

Guillemot also spoke frankly about the next generation of consoles, which he believes will arrive by 2012 and for which Ubisoft is preparing to develop for.

'For us, the current machines are very powerful and we can do high quality work,' said the Ubisoft chief, 'I'd like to stay with this generation as long as possible, but my customers will want the best machine possible.'
