Dan Potter has posted in this topic (http://www.cagames.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=492) at CAgames (http://www.cagames.com) about their new 3D engine for their new game, Tryptonite.[br][br]The Tryptonite 3D engine is the unimaginatively named Vortex (after Tsunami). As I said, it allows for full screen 2x1 anti-aliasing, dynamic lighting, environment mapping, and fake phong light reflections. I now present a screen shot taken from the DC frame buffer, rendered with Vortex.[br]http://www.dcemu.co.uk/attatchment/vortex_20040919.png [br]This hasn't been modified in any way except to scale it down to 320x240 to not take up so much forum space. [br][br]Make what you will of our choice of test beds for the 3D... [br][br][br]thanks to Qatmix for the news

Looking good...what else can I say? Can't wait to see what people do with this engine once they get their hands on it.
Other thoughts: those are some of the finest balls I've ever seen on the DC. Yes, I meant to type that. :)

Is the Vortex engine going to be released to the public like Tsunami, or it will just be internal for the production for Tryptonite?

Dan does not like posting in forums except for CAgames and consolevision, so i asked him
Ian_micheal: Any info on frame-rate and how much it can render before slowdown?
Dan:I don't have that info handy on me but I can get it later when I'm at home. The scene I posted above has more detail than you see there and runs right on the edge of 60/30fps; and I have a lot more optimization to do in the engine still.
Vorrtexx: Is the Vortex engine going to be released to the public like Tsunami, or it will just be internal for the production for Tryptonite?
Dan:I plan to release *everything* we write at some point or other, but I can't say when for sure at the moment...
