One of the most charming Sony Computer Entertainment titles will be seeing an update on the PSP. The latest issue of Famitsu has first details on Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable, a remake of the year 2000 PlayStation debut entry in the series that saw a year 2002 followup on the PlayStation 2.

Boku no Natsuyasumi lets players experience life as a young boy on summer vacation away from home, near the sea. Over the course of a month, you take part in a number of activities, including fishing and bug collecting.
Bug collection is a major part of the game. In addition to looking up details on the bugs that you've added to your collection, you can also make your bugs face off in bug sumo wrestling contests. Bugs can be found everywhere, from rivers to forests and on the mountainside.

The full name of the PSP remake is Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable: Mushi Mushi Hakase to Teppen Yama no Himitsu. Translated to English, this becomes My Summer Vacation Portable: Professor Mushi Mushi and the Secret of Teppen Mountain. The PSP version adds new scenarios and characters and ups the bug variety to over 128. Ad-Hoc connectivity is included, allowing players to exchange bugs with other players.

Set for release, like its predecessors, exclusively in Japan, Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable will arrive on 6/29.

Is this like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon?
