Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, today announced that Ancient Empires II has won the Mobie for Best Strategy Game for 2005 at the Third Annual Mobile Entertainment Awards presented by CNET Networks Games & Entertainment Held at CTIA WIRELESS 2006. The Mobile Entertainment Awards, better known as the Mobies, recognize excellence in mobile entertainment innovation, design, and technical achievement. Other Glu games recognized by the awards panel were ZumaÒ as runner-up for Best Puzzle Game of 2005, and Marc Ecko's Getting Up as runner-up for Best Action Game of 2005.

A panel of CNET Networks editorial experts chose the 2005 Mobies finalists based on gameplay, aesthetic value, and replay-ability. By providing compelling third-screen entertainment offerings from games, music, and video to access to live events and exclusive content, each winning company is driving consumer demand for mobile entertainment.

"Glu has a track record of creating and publishing some of the best games and entertainment for the mobile phone, and we're thrilled that Ancient Empires II won the Mobie for Best Strategy Game of 2005," said Greg Ballard, president and chief executive officer, Glu Mobile. "We're proud that this award has been given to a Glu original game, especially one which has been critically acclaimed worldwide.

Ancient Empires II is the epic sequel to the award-winning Ancient Empires. The game challenges players to battle alongside King Galamar and control fire-breathing dragons, lethal archers and fearsome wolves as they fight to defend their kingdom. Players choose from a variety of troops, decide on their own battle strategies and can challenge friends with up to 4-player battles in skirmish mode.

The Mobies award comes on the heels of a number of accolades for Ancient Empires II. In February, The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) awarded the game Best Cellular Game of the Year and in January, it was crowned Game of the Year by UK website Mobile Game FAQs. In December it was selected as Best Wireless Strategy Award of 2005 by IGN.com.
