While everyone was paying attention to Square Enix's slowly morphing teaser website, Capcom's own teaser site was undergoing some changes of its own.
To recap, the Capcom site originally displayed the year "1560." The site was linked to off the Sengoku Basara (aka Devil Kings) official site, so we assumed we'd be getting a new Sengoku Basara game set in that year. The franchise is quite popular in Japan, and recently saw a PSP entry.
And then came a Monday update to the site, with the 1560 crossed out, replaced by a 1573. Tuesday came along, and the 1573 was crossed out, replaced with a 1582.
Some Japanese gaming blogs clued us into the pattern here. Those years correspond closely to the time frames for Onimusha, Onimusha 2, and Onimusha 3. Could Capcom be teasing a new entry in the series that we thought would go to the grave with the PS2?
Let's see if tomorrow's update to the site lists a 1596 (or around that time), corresponding to Onimusha Dawn of Dreams.
As for the other player in the ongoing teaser site drama, Square Enix updated its teaser site to place a boy atop the dragon that was added yesterday.
There's still no clue as to the platform for either of these mystery games.
