yeah its legitimate. its usually from individual retailers with too much backstock, or from some punks who robbed an electronics store. but none the less you are legitimately paying for it. you arent at fault.

and yes they usually work. especially if you get one from the retailers that says "NEW!"

The only ones im seeing for that price on amazon are the ones that are in the "Amazon Marketplace", which has the same problems with bootleg memsticks as ebay. I added the stick in the link that Amazon is offering and it comes up as $158.
And as for those low prices on pricegrabber, I wouldnt be surprised if those were bootlegs too given half of those cheap stores are on "Pricegrabber Storefronts" so its pretty much just like the Amazon Marketplace, probably infested with bootlegs. Honestly, how do you think people who cant afford their own storefront can afford to sell tons of brand new real MemorySticks at prices half that of retail.

it's unfortunate. I HATE waiting for merchandise in the mail. I just called Game Stop and they are still selling the 2GB MS for $159.00 USD. I thought the price was dropped to make way for the 4GB. I can't wait to get that!

They have san disk cheap too. Linky (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F3F0SO/sr=1-3/qid=1144955855/ref=pd_bbs_3/103-4905409-4984630?%5Fencoding=UTF8&s=electronics). Is this a side effect of the excecs getting busted for controling the cost of memory?

I have a fake 2gb card and it's fine. So even if they are fake its still not bad.. although I got mine for about £20 on ebay.

Fake or not, that is pretty cheap. As long as it works, whats the problem?

BTW Is it just me or does the forum look different? Looks better if you ask me:)

The Amazon price for me is about $150...there are some merchants linked on the page that are selling it for about $60, though. I'll try the pricegrabber guy, he seems to have good feedback.

This looks like a fake and there's loads about there so be careful people and don't even be fooled by fake hologram stickers on memory card packaging - search for "counterfeit pro duo" on google and you'll find numerous forum discussions on this. Some people have bought them and found them to be ok others have found that they don't fit it the memory card slot, the casings have fallen apart or that the memory card is so brittle it has snapped in their fingers.

Some people have even found that there is only 1gb (or thereabouts) of storage space and nowhere near 2 gbs. The people who have been "lucky" have reported that their memory cards have slower read/write times.

I'm not wanting to scare people off here and make them buy official Sony things - as to be honest I abhor the greedy, commercially inept and soon to be extinct (if it carries on overpricing it's products) firm - I just want people to be aware that if something is too good to be true, then unfortunately it usually is.
