Sony has revealed its worldwide hardware distribution plan for the fiscal year of 2006, the company plans to ship 10 million units of PlayStation 2, 12 million units of PSP and 6 million units of PlayStation 3 throughout the year.

Sony announced its operational profit for the 2005 financial year has increased by 68% to 191.3 billion yen (US$1.66 billion), comparing to previous year. The increase is contributed by high sales of Bravia TVs and weak Yen; increasing sales with PSP and Vaio PC; and cut back on 5,700 jobs and 9 factories.

For the financial year of 2006, Sony expects a lower profit, due to the costs to launch PlayStation 3 in November 2006, the forecasted operation profit will be 100 billion yen (US$0.872 billion). The operational income will be 8.7 billion yen (US$75.8 millions), decreased by 79.7% from 2005. Sony also expects diminishing business for PS2 and PSP, after the PS3 is launched.

wow! I had no idea the PS3 was coming out so soon! With so many delays and setbacks, I thought this thing was coming out within the next 2 years or so! Well, I guess no XBOX 360 for me... I'll just wait for PS3! This is gonna be g-r-r-eat!
