StrmnNrmn (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=23614&page=21&pp=10) has just updated his Nintendo 64 Emulator for the PSP, heres what he posted:

<blockquote>Hi folks,

Here's the update list:

Code:
[+] Added support for streaming in large roms on demand.
[+] Various combiner (graphics) fixes.
[!] Fixed 120K wasted memory.
[~] Minor cosmetic (debug output) tweaks.
[~] Stopped debug output obscuring screenshots.
The first change is a huge deal Basically it means that Daedalus PSP can now boot large roms (i.e. those larger than 8MB). That doesn't mean to say that it will be able to run them, but there are certainly now significantly more roms which the emulator can boot.

Sadly neither of these get much further for me

Thanks to everyone who's been dropping me emails - I've been kind of deluged so it's been difficult for me to get through them (especially when I've been trying to fix bugs at the same time ) Apologies if you've emailed me and I've not got back to you.

Cheers,
StrmnNrmn </blockquote>

how scarily fast is this coming along? :| it practically came out of nowhere!!! I swear... my psp won't be left alone once I can get everything playable. The n64 is the best console for 3d platformers that ever has been, and ever will be. I still have to finish silicon valley, rocket:robot on wheels, banjo tooie and jet force gemini. Ahhh... can't wait. Anybody know about pacmanfan btw? I hope he's not given up on pspsone. I was looking forward to ps1 emulation.

How do you make an emulator faster? I know it might never get to full speed but how does the process of speed increase?

John V^^lmao

This is a great update, that was really fast too. I like the new purple and black colors that replace the white tectureless models in super mario, at least it shows depth, and height. Awesome work dude

i know it might freeze here,
http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/9878/fck5dh.png

but if u walk along the right wall to the bridge (the one that's further from mario),
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/5335/13ao.png
you can get in the house and continue. only r3 can get past the door part, otherwise ya just freeze as soon as the door closes behind u, before u can control mario again

May 3rd, 2006, 04:26

I have to say that i truly hope you and psmonkey combine your knowledge. I know you've heard it 439034023 times through emails and such but it would increase the rate of development of the emulator and why work against eachother when together you can do so much more!?

I'm very impressed and I hope we'll be able to get sound and better speed soon?

Good luck with all you do.

Excellent update, Mario no longer crashes after a few minutes. I played all the way to the first Bowser fight, but the emu crashed when I tried to take a screenshot, here's a picture I took of Bowser with my camera phone after it crashed.

One question........ WHY?

That would be like me upgrading my 1.50 to 1.52 - Or upgrading a 2.0 to 2.1 ---> :-(

vettacossx

poor nick....hope someone botthers to crack 2.8 for you cuz 2.7 is not worth the EXPLOIT it would take....not for ancient flash!!!

Hey guys I have a problem. I have 2.0 and the emulator runs fine until the point where I load a rom. It displays all the text (decompressing etc.) but then it says "Sleeping" and does nothing. What am I doing wrong???

drock82
May 3rd, 2006, 17:04
excellent emulator , the only thing that really need fixing is the 3d graphic engine, sound, controls, and speed, and lastly saving. when these issues are cleared we should be lookin at the number one game emulator-i was trying play wcw vs nwo revenge but couldnt get it to boot.but mario kart did show some progress i was able to select charachers as i wasnt able to do that before and then after that it frozed

is there anyone working on a sega saturn emulator or a dreamcast emulator

and why not a xbox360's one? or gamecube?

like we say in France: "et la mamotte elle met le chocolat dans le papier hallu????"

Conkers bad fur day didnt load at all

it converted.... but that was it

Inu268
May 3rd, 2006, 18:44
what did you mean by converting?

Airdevil
May 3rd, 2006, 18:59
converted to a streamable file.... you know in order for large roms to work

vettacossx
May 3rd, 2006, 18:59
IN REFERENCE TO CONKER
we are lucky to be able to see the N64 icon on zelda no less conker...lol just have yourself a look at the size of games like conkers bad fur day or pokemon stadium 2 for that matter.....IF K.I.GOLD cant show the titlte yet and you get it to do anuthing with a rom over 12 mb in size your lucky.....mario 64 and smash bros is playable @ about 25% of normal speed (only bunus games in smashbros) sanfranrush extreme racing 1 works good too you can race in game!! but for the mopst part this is a MARIO 64 emulator at this point ....as it seems now....i think all the ROMS have thousands of bugs to work out for EVERY GAME BUT MARIO 64 because they have worked very hard to take out the bugs we can play mario 64 a lil better than other roms and if these other games like san fran rush ER work,....its because they require similar things as MARIO 64 did...and the emulator itself ....well it just keeps getting better all the time !!! our gr8 EASTER PRESENT from PSMONKEY, and now rumor of the joined coding forces of new commer STRNM porter of the daedleus with our own beloved PSMONKEY makes me WOOOT with glee!!! ;)

BrooksyX

not yet

hervé
May 4th, 2006, 00:52
just download the tool64 and make the byteswapping on your computer, change the rom to little endian and rename the file extension to v.64.
this emulator will load directly the rom, without any trouble. :D :D :D

my roms are bytesapped to and on the r1 n r2 release it didnt take as long to load as it does now and also i would like to report a small prob wen i play a game[mario64 mainly] the movement controls want to stick making it move to the left even when im not pushing it. does this happen to ne1 else or just me and i cant wait for the r4 release[on 2.6 fw by the way]

strmnmrmnrmmmadf, you rock! This is very promising work. It's too bad when you play Mario64 that when you go into a level everything turns white, but it's still tight. I can't wait til this is running full speed and all the games work.

Hi, is there a point of downloading this and not give nothing to whom is making this great application??? Yeah, he is making this so the world could finally play N64 games in a portable fashion. The emulator is not complet, we are not helping. So lets help the guy a bit and give something to him!!!!!!! Great app, take your time and take care of your PSP man. GOOOOOOOOOOOD job!!!!!!!!!!!
