When I plug in a second controller both controllers stop working. However, both controllers work when connected separately. I also have the same problem when I insert a vmu

Hmm, that's odd. I do know that the Dreamcast controller board has a problem with its F1 resistor dying.

Maybe it's unable to supply enough power for anything more than one controller.
