View Full Version : Progress report

I thought I'd take 2 minutes from my lunchbreak to let you know what the progress is.

Last night I started recoding the internal engine of mame-psp along with the memory handling. Sadly this broke everything so I propose the following.

I'm going to make a release based on the 30 or so games that work "satisfactory" and then continue my work on the psp specific parts of the port. TMK has done a great job with MAME and I can only hope to improve things.

The 68000 core now compiles and runs correctly, and I successfully ran a neogeo title "League Bowling". Sadly it was less than 40% of the full speed, but it was playable. Maybe once the graphics/memory rewrite has taken place this could improve to 70 or 80% which would then become more realistic for a release title.

Watch this space. MAME-PSP with 30 near perfect games coming soon!

Sounds like a good idea.

I think a lot of people will be really happy with the 30+ games you've got going so far, especially since they all seem to run so well.

Then you can surprise them once again when you get the other 68K core type games going well.

It's nothing but good news :D

Just formatted my memory stick to make room for all the MAME goodness!

P.S.
Did you happen to have any time to look at my PM?

Mike, i cant wait for the release...:)
About the core of the motorola 68000, have you verify with other games that use it and need less “power” like toki or any cps1 games?

PD: Thanks for your work.

Hi Mike,

Sounds good, just checking if you saw it or not. :D

Thanks again for working on this project. I kind of get the feeling a lot of people aren't going to realize just how huge this is until they get it on their PSPs and see that, hey their PSP can now theoretically support 1000+ arcade games that span the length of several decades.:) Maybe that means more people like me who are old enough to remember PacMan in the arcade

Good Luck!

I can't wait for this to be released. I have one question: what's the most impressive game that you can get to run with this? Anyway, great work.

That's a good question?

Any idea what systems we should be preparing to test?

This sounds very cool, do you think that once you smoothen out the 6800 core, some CPS2 games will be able to run?
