Thanks for this, but I have some questions:

1. Do all of the same console commands work on the PSP port as on the PC port?

2. Is there a virtual keyboard for your port? If not, please can you add one, so we can type text into the console? Quake on the PSP has a very good virtual keyboard, where, when in the console, you press SQUARE to call up or remove the virtual keyboard.

3. Does your port have multiplayer bots (computer controlled enemies) in it? If so, how can I activate them, please.

4. Can we use user created Doom 1 and 2 levels with your port? And can it use the dehacked levels, like the Aliens TC ( http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Aliens_TC ) ?

5. At http://www.psp-hacks.com/2009/08/31/doom-legacy-updated-play-doom-doom-2-and-heretic-in-style/#comments someone says:

"...if you set it to move with the analog and then put “turn left/right” on the buttons, “look left/right” becomes strafing, making turning literally impossible while the nub is set to move."

I don't have any problems with the control method on your port, but I thought you'd want to read the above, in case it's a bug. I use Analogue Move set to "Look/Move", and everything is great.

If the port has a virtual keyboard then we can use it (like Quake on the PSP) to call script files, I assume, to setup deathmatch bots and whatever.

Thanks for any answers.

I did quick bugfix of strafing bug, same link as before, download again http://zdoom.ic.cz/psp/psp-legacy.zip
Please write on any forum that i made bugfix if you can.

You can play user PWADs, you can load user dehacked
I do not plan keyboard, is there something needed in console?

Thanks for replying.

I've posted your reply about the bug-fix to the web site, thanks.

The reason a virtual keyboard is needed is so that the user can type commands, to do things such as call up bots, or load new levels. Pleas consider adding a keyboard, as in the PSP port of Quake, as it would be invaluable to players to use.

thanks for you answer, i'll try to find the doom.wad, i must release the homebrew for pspgen, i don't understand why the homebrew don't work.
Thanks ;)

hmm doom legacy does not have bots, and changing map is cheating :) I can add new menu item "cheats" instead of virtual keyboard, that is much simpler.

September 3rd, 2009, 14:21
Well, it wasn't the cheats I was thinking of, more the ability to enter anything you wanted (I haven't yet looked through Legacy's instructions, so I don't know what you can do with the program via the console), but I suppose that someone would like a cheat menu.

How would I go about getting the Alien TC to work with this version of Doom Legacy, please?

If you want to run any PWAD, just put that wad to folder called "pwads" inside legacy's folder. Then new menu will appear on next run.

And i don't think there is something interesting in console. I think doom legacy does not need console.

This is bloody great! Only thing I can't work out is how to call up the automap - any tips?

Thanks for you hard work,
Rich

Thaks but I can't ear the music of the game.

Is there an option for the music?

kgsws˜™
September 4th, 2009, 15:09
No, automap and music is not supported.
Music code is completly removed, and automap code is not ported to GU.

Shame about the map - are there any plans to add it for future versions? - that'd make it the definitive PSP Doom!

Thanks,
Rich

So currently, there is no Doom port for the PSP which supports music?!

Sucks...

Any plans to add it in the future?

Also, I'm still secretly hoping for a Shadow Warrior port and a Duke Nukem 3d update so it supports custom grps...

No, that's not true. Doom v1.3, by Chilly Willy, supports music. I have it on my slim. Unfortunately, it does not support hardware rendering, and so it does not look nearly as good as Doom Legacy. The resolution also seems lower, although I'm not sure that's true.

Doom Legacy is by far the best looking version of Doom available for the PSP and it has the best GUI. It would be nice if it had music, but what I really is miss is the map feature. On some of the larger Doom SP levels it is easy to get lost and never find the exit--with the map you know where you are and you know which areas you haven't been too. Doom v1.3 has the map, along with the music ...

So sadly, you have to choose between lesser graphics, but music and the map, or much better graphics, but no music and no map. IMO Doom Legacy would be the perfect port, if it just had the map, but I'm going to stick with it, because it plays perfectly smooth and looks so much better than the other ports. It also works really well with mod/wad files, and the fact that it will play Heretic is just awesome.

Damn...

Here's to hoping it gets fully updated with working music in the future!

Outstanding job. I have psp doom .06 and multiplayer works.

However with this legacy doom version, when I try to create a server it says 'error starting wlan'. If I try turning off the wlan switch it says 'turn on wlan switch first'. Also I noticed the only menu option I can change is 'allow join player' which doesnt seem to help either. (I have two phat psps, 4.01 m33-2 firmware, game runs in either game 150 or game directory)

I love multiplayer but it doesnt work in legacy doom, is there a fix?

I just downloaded this port and gave it a go. This is the prettiest and best psp doom I have ever played.
I'm so happy I can remap the buttons how I like, among the many other options included. This is a smooth port, and the analog sensitivity is perfect. Thanks for your hard work!

Only glitch I've seen is the very first map using the official doom2.wad. The first room's left wall is see-through.
I haven't seen any other problems.

Thanks again, I love this! I can't wait to show off how great this is!

Please keep up the wonderful work!

- Bender

Is there support for "Strife" in this?

I just want to say that PSP Leagacy is the best port for all the Doom games. The only flaws with it is no map and no music which I hope that will be included on a third update soon hopefully. I have also found that some custom wads like Knee Deep in Phobos and Goldeneye, do work. Others don't work either by crashing the psp or freezing. Recently, I've been making my own Doom levels for Doom 2 on Doom Builder 2, they load like regular. The problem is that if I make a door, it would open in regular Doom for PC but for when I put it on PSP Legacy, the door doesn't open for some reason no matter how many times I press the button. The same goes for the lifts. I know Doom Builder 2 isn't your field but can anyone tell me what I have to do on PSP Legacy, because it is a problem on PSP Legacy. Anyone else has this problem?
