The Nottingham Arboretum like most council parks in the United Kingdom has in these days of recession and council spending cuts always finding it hard to improove with the rather small funding it gets.

Therefore if anyone can donate or indeed help the Arboretum that would be most welcome.

Heres a few ways you can help/donate.

Park Benches - Theres never enough of them and what better way to remember to celebrate one of the best places in the country by donating to the park a lovely bench -

Birds for the Aviarys - The Aviarys are always in need of new birds, anything from Finches, Lovebirds, Budgies, Canaries, Cockatiels, Quail and Parrots, all of these are very much wanted -

Rare Trees - The Arboretum is a park for rare trees and is always in need of new trees to expand that collection -

Fern Area at Back of Pond - Back in 2002 we planted a fern area at the back of the pond and whilst most have grown reasonably well we would love to expand the area with as many varities as possible, all plant donations would be excellent -

The Erica Bed - The Triangular Erica Bed just up from the main entrance is in need of new Erica plants to fill up the bed.

The Herbaceous Border - Another area of the park in desperate need of new Herbaceous plants to help improve upon the old plants already there -

The Dahlia Border/Dahlia Garden - We now leave our Dahlias in all year round and are trying to gather a massive collection of Dahlias, in my estimations we have possibly 400 different varities between the 2 areas. Any donations of tubers would be extremely welcome -

Hardy Fuschia Collection - At the entrance near Arboretum Street and in the view of the tram im hoping to gather plants for a Hardy Fuschia Collection, any plant donations would be brilliant to brighten a rather drab area of the park -

The Sherwood Street walkway. - The Walkway between the Bridge on Addisson Street and Entrance on North Sherwood Street is in need of plants and trees such as Fruit Trees and Herb Plants to create an Herbal Walkway with the bonus of trees to pick your own fruit. Again donations of plants and trees would be most welcome.
