I've just seen that a meeting from Sega and Sony has been "leaked", and between the interesting facts they were discussing, you can see:

PS2 emulator for PS3 (confidential)
- SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN (GTA Vice City/Sonic/etc)
- For co Marketing money show PS3 controller on TV ads – similar to EA Madden Spots, NCAA, etc…

As you might remember, we told when speaking about the Slim model that it has a "- New and more powerful CPU. (...) if we could wish for something, what about that software retro-compatibility with PS2, now that we can?" Looks like that was the idea.

Anyway, as TGS is soon, we'll probably see something related there. Even though, this might not be just for Slim models, as you can also overclock old CPU's if they aren't enough, as it was done on PSP..

On the other side, you can see tons of new games and even a Motion Controller, for Spring 2010, coming new details on Sept 1st. Hopefully, we'll see this soon!

Now knowing how YLOD is caused, over clocking the cpu would make the ps3 warmer? on fat ps3's but anyway ps2 games in the psn store, who didn't see that coming...

Sigh, the older PS3's simply had more packed in them (more chips like the EE, the Cell with a larger footprint, media card readers). That's why they're both heavier and have more ventilation holes. :P

It sounds pretty cool, but I can imagine Sony pulling off some dickish move like locking the PS2 emulator to PSN games you've bought only.

It's pretty much confirmed, since they patented it. No way the cash strapped Sony would miss out on milking old titles.
DC games PSN only???
