Our man PSmonkey posted a little update on his Nintendo 64 Emulator:

Though blind thinking last night I figured out a posible spot to increase speed & will try testing it out later tonight. I also found out that implementing a texture cache should speed up a few roms (specialy quest which jumped to about 17-20fps inside the castle

Awesome stuff, keep your eye pulled to his website here --> http://nemo.dcemu.co.uk

Quest 64 only runs at 20 FPS inside the first castle but drops to a very slow rate once you go outside. He later said "I have not implemented it. I did some test and disabled recompiling textures (so pretty much everything is either black or shows a hud texture) to see what effects it would have on the framerate."(referring to the texture cache).

Great work PSmonkey it seems like every day were getting a hell of a lot closer to good speed N64 emulation on the PSP. 20fps per second to me is fenomenal just because this emulator was only being made for about 4 months now tops! And the fact he is working with a PSP also and not a high end computer is also amazing. Man PSmonkey keep up the great work the stuff you do is amazing!! :) you have my full 100% support!

Hell, he started from scratch and he's now getting 20fps on certain games or parts of games. Not bad at all. Amazing homebrew project for the PSP.

This is just a news update. As of this writing, He hasn't released a newer version yet. He was just stating some results he got while working on his emu.

omg gr8 job what exactly caused the dramatic jump! and is this just for SOME games or alot?

2in future builds will we still have to tweak them with that thing in the menu? that picks certain codes or whatecer that does? or will this evetually be auto chose in the future for the best rom?

thanx PSmonkey your the man sorry bout the breakout trophy:rolleyes: when i got the highest score on it i was given a COMMENT so i wrote

M64 plays pong 2 ;)

i attribute my skills to my intense m64 release anxioty....lol ;) it wasnt that long ago all we could play was pong on psp m64!

if you can get the game running at a perfect 15frames per second
then that would be fine as frameskip can fix the rest.

Sure you'll have a frameskip of 3, it would be jittery but getting 60/15 is still playable

Hi All. I decided that this should be posted .

Please ensure you select the right microcodes . Make sure you have pants on, you could wet yourself due to compatibility. Warning Dialup users this could take time for you(Seeing im one it took time)

Excellent development. You are working like a tropper, my friend. Hopefully starting from scratch will have it's benefits of faster emulation, as Daedalus works will near flawless graphics (apart from few clipping bugs and wrong colors), but this emu is now running a lot faster than was deemed possible. You would wonder why a PS1 emu hasn't popped up of similar development but you are doing an amazing job. Hopefully you will be able to import SRAM saves so I don't need to start Super Mario 64 all over again :D
