DCEmu Prize Giveaway: Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2

Since we are such nice people and all, we at DCEmu (www.dcemu.co.uk) are going to give away Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 for either the PS3 or Xbox 360 (winners choice) to a Lucky DCEmu reader. To enter this contest all you have to do is to post a reply to this news post and answer the following question:

The Call of Duty games are set during WW2 and modern day, but if you could make you own COD game, what war/time period would you base it on?

You may only post your answer once, and duplicate entries will be disqualified from the contest. This contest is only open to residents of the UK, (sorry to all our members outside of that region).

This contest will close on Friday 20th November 2009.

I still like to see more games set in WW1 would still be a great setting for a game, but developers tend to ignore it for WW2.

Since others have already suggested the obvious Vietnam war (1959 - 1975), that leaves the Falklands war as my next choice. (1982 - 1984) :D

I would have it set during the cold war period, Leaving certain parts open for spying and espionage, involving stuff like the cuban missile crisis and the korean/vietnamese war.Also the assasination of the communist leader in chile by the CIA agents.It could just expand so much throughout that time :D.

i'd go with recent events like the search for obama and things like the twin towers basically current events i know there sad times but i think it would be cool to be able to relive them but have the possibility of stopping them in the game

How about instead of a single war follow the history of various special forces from WWII untill now.

I'd like it to be futuristic sci-fi type thing, perhaps based on the recent Battlestar Galactica series' Cylon War on Caprica with 2 storylines: a Rebel and a Cylon one so I get to be Toaster and resistance fighter in some interwoven tale.

Running battles in war torn cities, forest ambushes, battlestar boarding assaults etc - it would all fit well in to a CoD framework

I think they should bring Call Of Duty to the Gulf war, that way they can use relatively modern weapons and equipment, but have a story to follow and be able to create realistic missions, obviously made more dramatic, but nonetheless, worked great for Desert Strom.

Sometime in the near future, after the US is nuked, fallout will effect the entire US population. This will created a civil war inside a wasteland like atmosphere, where the government has collapsed and the deranged fight whatever is left of the sane.

I agree with a few others about the Falklands War in the early 1980's as you could have the Royal Marines battle for Goose green,the recapture of South Georgia & The Fall of Stanley,The daring raids by the SAS/SBS in the Heart Of Argentina & the surrounding islands.
Of cause you cannot forget the part that the Gurkas played in their fearsome fight against the Argentines.
There are so many battles that you could incorporate into the Game.

a call of duty game that i would make would take place during the Cold War but it would be in an alternate time line on what could've happened if things happened differently. A full on war with China stemming from the Korean War? A nuclear war with Soviet Union actually happened? Possibilities people!

I would like to Set the next COD in my living room on a Sunday afternoon. Picture the scene -

TIME - 13:40.
SITREP - dinner ruined
Report - I arrived at 13:40 hrs after recce mission to 'The man in the moon'. There was no clear and present danger at this location - so I set up a checkpoint and took down some credentials of the locals. After an hour or so, realised that I had to go and file a report. Hostile rececption....REPEAT HOSTILE RECEPTION - I HAVE CONTACT.......REQUEST RE-INFORCEMENTS IMMEDIATELY......CAN'T GET TO THE TELLY TO TURN FOOTY ON......MAN DOWN......MAN DOWN.......

OH yes, COD - living room extraction. Thats my war.

Good question, I m pulled towards a futuristic, post apocalyptic setting. However the vietnam war setting is also very appealing.

I would choose all the wars from the last 30-50 years (moving past WWII), then somehow combine them all for the online mode whilst having each playable "historically" in the main mode... So you could play as a U.S. Marine against maybe an Argentine and all the others, it would make an awesome team death match, though some would complain and say it's not historically accurate, but it's the different armies and their weaponry that makes a decently playable online game and not the accuracy of saying a U.S. Marine with the weaponry from now cannot be used against an opposing army (say the Vietnamese in the 60's) to whatever weaponry they may have today because it's interesting to see how two countries that aren't currently at war would fare against each other. :cool:

Maybe I'd have it set around these times where one day a rift in space opens a dimensional link to another world similar to ours. Then we find ourselves having to defend against an invasion of people whose timeframe is set in the past full of magic, dragons and wondrous mystical beings.
