What are they? How many % these parts represent? What does it take to make a serious 3D game for the dreamcast? (like scud race)

Well the unknown devices would be.

VMU MP3 Player (not released)
Zip Disk (Not Released)
Dreamcast DVD Player (Not Released)
Kariokee (dont know how to spell and not released)
DC Webcam (Released unsure of its compatibility and not many available today)

To make a 3D game you could use Katana Sega's Licensed dev kit which you need a license for and it would cost big amounts of money. Or you could use KOS Dreamcasts homebrew devkit which is supposebly alot better cause its more updated then Katana.

But to make a serious 3D game your talking about coders who actually want to spend there hard earned time on coding the game.

A graphics designer who wouldnt mind doing it all for fun and without cash but this is very hard to come by.

I right now am still preparing a game that i have been on about for 1 year now. I have one coder but he needs some time and help from other coders who also dont have time.

I have one graphics artist and you really only need one unless you want one to do different things for the game example: one for cars, one for characters so and so on.

So here your looking at something impossible dont get your hopes and dreams on something like this cause nothing is possible in a scene thats basically dieing out now.

I myself take care as much as i can human sfx and main game ideas and ideas on graphics for the game basic designer and which might also be needed for a game if your unsure on what to do with it.

Actually, what i wanted to say was "what parts of the internal DC hardware (sound chips, graphics chips, modem controller and other) are missing deeper knowledgement?".

Since you talked about graphics artist i say Im a little bit used to 2D art and image treatment and i would be glad if i could help. What kind of game is your team working on?

IIRC, the Scud Race demo was developed with the NEC Arc1A PowerVR PCI board, more known as the Set 2.1 DC dev kit. They weren't as powerful or fully developed as the later Set 5 Dreamcast/Katana development boxes.

I'm currently trying to research the Dreamcast development parts/units (HKT-0xxx).

Here's what I currently have compiled:

HKT-0100 (Early Set 5)
HKT-0110
HKT-0120 (Set 5.24, known to be the latest revision but not proven)
HKT-0130

HKT-0200 - Katana Controller Box
HKT-0300 - Katana Sound Box
HKT-0400 - Katana GD-Writer
HKT-0500 - Cross Products Dreamcast GD-ROM Duplicator GD-X
HKT-0600 - Sega Dreamcast GIGA BYTE DISC RECORDABLE
HKT-0900/HKT-0910 - Sega Dreamcast System Disc 2

Info on them can be pretty much found here:

You know there exists a Set 4 box right? I had a chance to buy one at one point. I don't know what the HKT number was for it if at all.

Yeah, I was never able to find out if it had any HKT number since some came without the case.

Have any pics?
