wow, i feel so professional now, thnx alot, i really needed a custom sig, and now i have one,

quzar

dude... read the rules: Sig pics can not be bigger than 120 x 520 pixels, and 25kBs in size

change the tut to be "new image 400x120" or 500x120 or even 520x120, but 400x150 is too thick. The most important part of the sig limits is the thickness because that determines the amount of space each sig is spreading convos apart.

also, in your example the sig ends up being 175kbs. Way too big. Think of the dial-up users.

FrierTuck

hold up, am i the one being given a talking too? cause my actuall sig is small size wise at least

ACID
August 22nd, 2006, 07:44
quzar who are you refering to. Im confuse all the sigs i see are withing forum rules. ????

quzar
August 22nd, 2006, 13:06
I was talking to the original poster, FrierTuck in his posted sig, the one he has currently, your sig etc.

For some reason everyone here thinks that 150 is the max height, but it's 120, and just dropping the width doesn't make it ok to up the height, because the height is what actually affects forum readability.

To clarify: the original poster posted in the tutorial to make the sig 400x150, and the sample ones size was 175kb which violates the signature rules of the forums both in height and size.

Malksta
August 22nd, 2006, 18:39
Well, It's changed now and as Acidburn said Almost everyone's sig here on DCEmu Violate's the Rule's :/

FrierTuck
August 22nd, 2006, 20:59
well, i went through the trouble of making it regulation now, oh well, i abide by laws

Well, It's changed now and as Acidburn said Almost everyone's sig here on DCEmu Violate's the Rule's :/

Well, there has been a recent cosensus in staff that there needs to be a crackdown on sig rule enforcement. I've started from the biggest offenders and am working my way downward, and am in general leniant as far as being a few pixels over as long as total kb is under 25, but that isn't the case.

Although it may seem hard to believe, with all the traffic we get there are a great many users here who are on 56k, and the size (kb) limits are there to help them out. The rules about the dimensions of a sig are there to keep threads readable, which often stops happening when you get 4 or 5 posters with huge sigs.

Again: 520x120 and 25kb is the limit. If yours is above in any of those, any staff member may remove it.

Malksta
August 22nd, 2006, 22:59
Bah, a 25kb sig size would horribly ruin the quality :(
Do they still sell 56k modems? :/

FrierTuck
August 23rd, 2006, 03:16
yah, but only if its like a bluetooth wireless setup for remote mountain trips with a phoneline lol, well, new computers usualy have them, i actually used my pc as a phone with it for a while, but i had no good mic, and btw is my sig outta regulation now? cause i tried to make it regulation

where did you get the charecters? and use some layer blending on the charecters to give them more body, and maybe a light color gradiant, just my thoughts, and heres an example of what else you can use these brushes for, i need to make a sig version of that lol

People just have to realise that just a little shading witch doesnt look significant can add up to 4-8kb in jst one touch. Thats a big issue also.
