The UK's Channel 4, from the 16th of September, will be broadcasting a few programmes in 3D, the full list of which can be found here. While the likes of a 3D Miley Cyrus concert aren't exactly groundbreaking, this will give 3D viewing at home much more publicity, paving the way for even more interesting projects in the future. In partnership with retailer Sainsbury's, Channel 4 are producing free 3D glasses so that as many people as possible can watch them, although it's unclear which of the various types they'll be.

I saw a commercial for this when I came home at lunchtime, the glasses are only available for FREE at (participating) Sainsbury's supermarkets... I'm guessing my Real D glasses will not work, the commercial looked red and turquoisey green.

The Channel 4 glasses, I will be sure to grab myself a few pairs (or just buy a 3D DVD). My box is set to record the first episode which is aired on the 16th at 21:00 on Ch4, as a series which follows with a Derren Brown magic show in 3D (I'm currently wondering if the glasses are for this also?). :)

Programme Description:

Show____________21:00-22:00
The Queen in 3D

The story of two innovative
cammeramen who shot a 3D
newsreel of the Queen's
Corronation in 1953. This
footage is shown on TV for
the first time, discussed by
the men who made it. [S]

Edit: I got my 3D glasses today, and they are blue and bronze... Not a colourization of 3D glasses I've seen before, but hopefully the 3D week is worth watching. Sadly I cannot use the glasses for Rad Racer. :(
