Hi All,

Here is a new version of PSPMSX the MSX series Emulator for PSP.

What's new in version 1.0.3 :

- All roms can now be loaded directly !
- MSX version can be changed inside the emulator
(no need to rename the rom as carta.rom etc ...)
- Fix a bug in sound startup

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public licence,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

I hope this is the final release ... I'm working on other emulators now ;)

Enjoy,

Zx.

You can change MSX version to MSX2 (instead of MSX2+) save the config and restart the emulator, and it should be then in english ... ?

There was a translation done for the game. Disk name for english should be SOLIDE12.ROM and the jap one I have as well.

Just tested MG2:SS, and it runs perfectly. You are a KING zx... I want to give you £100 but I can't. So there :D

All your coding is the worse for me.. I have an exam tomorrow but I will NOT resist the temptation to stay up all night and play MG2. I loved the original, even if it was in Japanese.. :)

This has actually been the most useful emulator for me to date. I don't think, however, that we have a SegaCD emulator yet. Is it even possible? :D You would have to do some special trickery on geting only part of the rom loaded at any time... and not that I need it.. an MTX emulator...

Good night :D

Everyone show some respect!:D

Im playing metal gear 2 right now, Because of Zx!
And I command everyone to show him the proper respect!!:p

Seriously bro You rock!!

One question tho and this is almost entirely unrelated,
In metal gear 2 solid snake, Ive almost got the keyboard controls set perfectly, except I cant figure out which key makes snake crouch and crawl,
Ive tried everything at least twice. Any advice from anyone?

*edit okay I figured it out, To Crawl you have to push space + M
heh now that ive got it all set up it playes like a dream :D Awesomeness :D

Just some questions. First of all:

All the code is just made from scratch? Or based on another existing emulator sources like openmsx os whatever?

Second: I have a PSP 1.0 and PSPDevkit, would be easy to build the sources for a 1.0 or do you use some system calls not compatible with 1.0?

Thanks and great work.

This is a port of fMSX ...

I really don't know, but what i can say is that i don't use special kernel function because i develop on 2.5FW. It's all done using PSPSDK so you should be able to compile it and make it work on 1.0 ...

unfortunatelly no ... :(

Well there you go. Would it be hard for disk extentions to be implemented? Don't worry, hardly any of the MSX games I own are on disk, and most of them suck. :) It would be a fully complete emulator though if it could. I believe fMSX did have disk support? What was it that made it difficult, or was it time that made you leave it out?

fMSX support disk file but what's complex here is that fMSX is not re-entrant simulator. You can't load a rom, next load another one etc ... open a disc, eject another etc ...

I've to modify this emu to be able to load successively several roms ...

For the disk support, the disk image is not loaded in memory (as other emulator) but only open. Then the emulator seek on the file using the file descriptor when a disk request happens ...

On PSP this kind of behavior is very unstable ... Each open file as to be closed properly etc ... So to be clear, to support disk file, this part of the emu has to be rewritten from zero. I won't spend hours on it, only to be able to run few games lol ...

you should really try to look better, cuz a whole lot of games on disk rule all other games i know.
MSX has an huge library of good games on rom and on disk.
try out SD Snatcher, Ys 1 2 and 3, Xak 1 2 and 3, fray, Randar III, Fray, Illusion CIty etc

anyway, does the SCC soundchip work good on MG2?

This way was quicker for me.
Just unzip and drop this in your \PSP\GAME\pspmsx\kbd directory
To use it just go to keyboard and load this file.

And yes it works very well for Mg and mg2 solid snake.
