The second of my reviews is regarding the Gameboy Advance SP 2GB i brought a few weeks ago.

This was a console i spotted on IShopVideoGame (http://www.ishopvideogame.com/gameboy-advance-sp-2gb-p-1707.html?ref=131) and was eager to try it.

The GBA SP is fitted with a 2GB Flash Drive which you cant see unless you open the console.

Upon booting the console i was a tad astonished to find a mass of games already loaded onto the console, infact a total of 118 games, of which all played and saved perfectly.

The Console has a USB Lead with it and when connecting to a PC/laptop it shows up as a removeable drive and its not hard to work out how to add additional games to the console, so adding homebrew and emulators for the GBA is really easy.

Now the price is a rather decent $54.95 and like my other review shipping from ishopvideogame was very resonable.

I must point out that the GBASP plays games like any normal GBA but obviously the benefit of a 2gb hard drive makes the console a great selling point, you could stick hundreds of GBA Homebrew and Emulators for GBA on the hard drive too.

all in all a great buy and i highly recommend this to any GBA fans.

Thanks again to IShopVideoGame (http://www.ishopvideogame.com/gameboy-advance-sp-2gb-p-1707.html?ref=131) for a great console and quick shipping.

Interesting, I'd love to see a GBA Micro fitted with a Flash drive though since I've always wanted to try one of those.

Great review but unless you have one or know another place to get them you are out of luck. They have been out of stock for quite a while. I contacted them and they don't know if they can even get any more in.

does it play gameboy colorr as well?

If it doesn't normally, you can always use Goomba to play GB/GBC games on it.

Hmm, interesting. If it was in stock right now and I had spare money to go, I'd so get one. £33 certainly isn't a bad price and it'll be a great replacement for my old GBA SP which might be on its way out sometime (though not too soon).

Yea I wish it was in stock as well. Both my boys have NDS's but they had GBA SP's before that. My older boys GBA broke and we misplaced the other one, so I would love one of these. Seems it only plays GBA games on the 2gig unless you get a GBA flash card, but still a great system.

What's the build quality like on this and would it stand up to daily use of a 6 year old?

Hey Wraggster how do you get it to show any of the other colors? I did a search on their site and it only brings up the pink one and says it is available in other colors but you can't click on the colors to order. That is why I assumed they were all out of stock.

I also see you can click on the tiny icons of the other colors but that only shows a picture of that color GBA.

Anyone know if it's one of the later GBA SPs with a backlit screen that's being modded in this case? Would definitely consider it if so, even though the flash drive is an obvious selling point in itself.

Do you think you could upload a video? That would be awesome.

Also, regarding power, would I need a power adapter since i live in the US? I saw that you live in England wraggster, so I was wondering if it would be safe or if the power adapter is variable with voltages around the world.

Hey guys,

Im new to the forum and after searching online for hours for a good gameboy resource couldn't really find much as everyone is deciding to move over to NDS and now 3ds.
Nintendo have also forgotten about us loyal cartridge holders who still enjoy physical products to slot in and play so, I have built a website dedicated to the Gameboy range!
I have sourced the links to get various rare pieces and will be hitting the streets with a camera to find, film and bring you the best games shop that are still selling retro gameboy and nintendo hardware.

Also I have a contact who has been able to supply me with the GBA SP 2Gb model you guys are looking for. They are backlit aswell!

I'll tell you straight that it isn't £33 though, its £54.99 with free P&P (I have to have them imported is why) but I have them up and ready for order as well as a bag load of imported gba games.

The site is still under constructionn at the mo, but the shop is up and ready for orders.

Here is a link to the site:

Check out my Youtube Channel to as that is where I will be uploading the videos most of the time:
