I just came to say that our great Adrian McMenamin is the only one still contributing to the LinuxDC project.

He finished his aica sound driver a few days ago and it works like a charm.

Thanks to him I can play mp3 files with mpg123 from bash now :)

We have a bright future regarding linux for the dreamcast.

What's the status of Linux on the DC now anyway, I mean I don't have experience with it on my PC, aside from booting some distributions for testing purposes.

From what I've gathered the DC distribution comes with DOOM and Mame, any other remarkable apps/games that can be used with it already?

It has a buggy driver in the old 2.4 kernel tree but the new 2.6 linux tree has clean and fast code. The new sound driver uses less system resource compared to the old one. I'm working on compiling a new disc of linuxsh-dc with the X server and some basic apps for the end-users. Hope to have it finished soon.
