Those guys at neocdz (http://neocdz.hp.infoseek.co.jp/psp/index.html#download_alpha) must never sleep! Because they have done it again!

Here is all the information I could find about this exciting release. Credit for the translation of the readme goes to Jeff C (http://pspupdates.qj.net/NEOGEO-Emulator-for-PSP-Alpha-1-Unleashed/pg/49/aid/55944) And he has our thanks!

Now on to The translated readme.

Only supporting the compressed ROM set for MAME 0.106.

Clone set containing home purpose ROM is not supported.

Protected/encrypted ROM set is not supported.

Games with special input port or dip switch are not supported.

Due to the lack of memory on the PSP, only the ROM sets smaller 128Mbit (16MB) are supported. (I haven't tested the upper limit of the supported ROM size)

There may still be some ROM sets that cannot be started even they comply with the conditions above.Info from Read Me.

Thanx Jeff C for the translation

Soooo is this the tried and true NeoGeo CDZ EMU with Neo Geo Cart (ROM) support? Or something totally different than the EMU that plays Neo Geo CD games?

The Games are really running fullspeed, even better than the cd-versions, i think.
Really impressive!
I hope there will be something like dynamic loading in the future, so that every rom-size will be supported.

The GP2X-Version of NeoGeo has a tool that strips the graphic-files out of the roms for dynamic/seperate loading to support bigger rom-sizes.

I downloaded the latest emu, alpha 2 and still no joy (its on the makers website)

Could someone send me their bios files, if that's allowed, if not sorry for asking.

I can't get it to work, but you dont use the neo CD files...you use the normal neo geo roms.

Same games, but different file set (more games too).

Your bios is correct but this emu accept only the .bin format.;) Convert your romset with clrmame.

Does anyone know if this can play Blazing Star Neo Geo ROM? I believe this is the sequal to Pulstar and one of the best shooters for Neo Geo.

Also, if someone could clarify.... Will the same Neo Geo CD bios that allows CDZ to play CD games work for playing regular Neo Geo games?

firstly this is not an update of neo cd!!!

it is for the arcade version of the same games though.

the files are much smaller about 10 times approx.

you need the game files zipped in the roms folder and you also need the arcade neogeo bios ( from google).

just set up the folders it shows in the readme file.

look at earlier posts for games that work.

finally is games won't load.try restarting the EMU.

this clears the memory. i found that if you load a game the leave it back to the menu and try to load the same game again it won't work sometimes.

this is because the memory fills up quickly.

in general alot of games work fine.

hope this helps

i am running this on bock with 2.5 firmware BTW!!!

to people getting the ,sp-s2.sp1, error make sure you have the bios (neogeo.zip). If that doesnt work then unzip the neogeo.zip file and rename the following files.

NG-LO.ROM should be named 000-LO.LO
NG-SFIX.ROM should be named SFIX.SFX
NEO-GEO.ROM should be named SP-S2.SP1

now rezip the file.

First of all, isn't this emulator the shiznit? I use the CDZ version all the time and love it, but I never expected this Alpha version for the MVS to run so well.

Unfortunately it looks like the developer isn't really trying to find a way to load large roms. Looking at his website he says that he almost got KOF to load, but ran out of memory with just 128Kbytes left.

What really intrigues me is that the memory limit of the PSP seems to be the crux of all emulators from MAME to NeoGeo, but Strnmn of Deadalus fame whipped up some kind of program to load massive N64 roms, seemingly without any trouble.

I wonder if this technology can be applied to other emulators as well? Perhaps we should all drop Strmn a line and see if his code is applicable for other types of emulators.
