A lot of people spend a lot of time reviewing and comparing apps, so there's no shortage of critical information to guide your purchases. But what do iPhone and iPod Touch users actually buy? Here's the leaderboard (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewCustomPage?name=pagexxUIxxiTunesRewind09_Apps) for 2009.

The list, it seems, it sorted by revenue, because there's a relatively poor showing for cheap casual games. Nothing in the top six is below $5, and they're all franchise titles.

The fantastic Spider: The Secret of Bruce Manor tops the group, joined by a healthy selection of games from a mix of studios, large and small. Just one of the top ten is a big-name franchise title.
