from http://neocdz.hp.infoseek.co.jp/psp/index.html#download_alpha

Im not exactly sure what is said on the page.. But I do know that this new version has some cool features!

1timeuser from the other thread:

One thing i did notice was somthing about some sort of uni-bios which can be located here
http://unibios.free.fr/download.html

Alrighty, here is some sweet stuff I have discovered in this version. First off the unibios (see link above) lets you access some cool stuff by pushing both start and select at the same time. There are even cheat options.
To add the uni-bios place uni-bios.rom in your neogeo.zip (the neogeo bios image) and rezip it. Then before you load a game push the L button and scroll all the way down to select one of the uni bios's

Not only does it get rid of the green ugly screen at the start of the neogeo boot process, but it like i said gives you some cool ingame options with start + select.

Now for thoes of you who wonder how i got the 20 meg + blazing star game to run.. Its pretty easy.
Inside the ngepsp_alpha3 directory there is a folder called "converter". Inside that folder is a program that... well its magic.. I dont know what it does really. (probably somthing to do with compressing the sprites). anyway take your rom (blazstar.zip) and run it through the program. The program poops out somthing in the cache directory (blazstar_cache.zip".. Alls you gots to do is place this cache file in the "Cache" folder in the ngepsp folder on your psp. Place the rom (blazstar.zip) in its usual place and boot it up!

Mods or Admins feel free to edit this news post and I slapped it on here... just to get it on here. :p

so this is a aes emulator, not neo geo cd?

MVS, yes.

matt2k
June 20th, 2006, 05:24
Both AES and MVS are supported. You can change to which one you want in the bios selection.
MVS = Arcade version with unlimited credits.
AES = Console version that limits you to very few credits, but some games will have a more in depth 1p story mode ( ala Art of Fighting 3)

i need help on converting blazing star

oninotsume
June 20th, 2006, 06:01
Tried out WakuWaku 7, Blazing Star, and Samurai Showdown 3, all worked pretty well.

The fighting games seem to stutter a little during the first round, but pick up speed from there on. Blazing Star is pretty much all good, sound is missing in some places, but nonetheless it's amazing to be able to play these games on the PSP.

Awesome Work:D

June 20th, 2006, 06:03
Blazing Star would be release as its own psp game and be great! I am so happy with this release! Great Job!

Cap'n 1time
June 20th, 2006, 06:22
ok here goes the conversion tut one more time.

first get the rom you want (blazing star for example).

make a folder with the conversion program in it and the cache folder and everythng.

Place your rom in that folder.. or anywhere i guess.

Open the conversion program and select the rom your are going to use.

Let the program do its thing and then PLACE THE ORIGINAL ROM IN THE ROM DIRECTORY AS USUAL

In the cache folder on your computer there should now be somthing (blazstar_cache.zip for example) place this file in the cache folder in the ngepsp directory on your psp.

boot it up and pray. so far I havnt gotten alot to work other then blazing star, KOF 94 and 95 and double dragon wants to start, but cant. unfortunatly all of these games can be played on the ngcd emulator... blazing star is the gem so far.

ACID
June 20th, 2006, 06:28
ok now i can only get blazing star and samurai showdown 3 to work with this cache the big problem is this all the games that i was able to play with the alpha 2 are now all screwd up or will not play example mi presios SAmurai Showdown.

Heres the games that i was able to play with the last version.

so how is this better than cd? I mean are they the same games and all just cartridge form?

ACID
June 20th, 2006, 06:57
this are basicallie the arcade versions and the expensive cartrige version. plus theres more games then the cd version and the big one memory sizes not even 1/4 of the cd size

Cap'n 1time
June 20th, 2006, 07:16
the only real reason anyone would care about these emulating these mvs/aes carts is due to a few rare gems. Blazing Star, Metal Slug 3, 4, and X, Captain Tomaday, SNK vs Capcom Chaos... Im sure you could come up with more.. but these are a few MUST PLAY GAMES... sadly only blazing star seems to be playable on this release..

oninotsume
June 20th, 2006, 07:18
Don't forget WakuWaku 7, the most expensive NeoGeo game EVAR! I think it goes for over $1,000 in the west.

Cap'n 1time
June 20th, 2006, 07:29
Another advantage is the file size. an example being that aero fighters 2 for neogeo cd with MP3's is 84 megs. Without the music it is somthing like 15 megs... meanwhile its cartridge sister is less then 10 and offers decent sound. of course generally that would mean shit, but alot of us are limited to <1gig cards and we just love in-game music. :)

The author has released an updated version on their web site which I think resolves some issues introduced with the alpha 3 release.

I'm using it and it has fixed some graphic bugs in Top Hunter and Puzzle Bobble that existed in alpha 2 whilst allowing me to run Metal Slug through cache mode (little slow but playable).

This is a list of games that I determined can be launched based on their file sizes. As for games that can't be launched, it would be impossible to support them at present and in the future, so please keep this in mind.
(Even in the event that I could get them to run, they wouldn't be able to run at a speed much faster than one frame every few seconds.)
Also, when using eLoader, since the available memory decreases by about 2MB, it is possible that games which are listed here as compatible may not actually launch on your system.

Now working:

Fatal Fury Special
Art of Fighting 2
Shock Troopers
Samurai Shodown 2
Galaxy Fighters
Kabuki clash
Magical Drop 3

Fixed graphics/other errors:

Top Hunter
Viewpoint
Fatal Fury 2

Still not working

Spin Masters, still black screen

Bugs:

I get "error couldnt load cache" sometimes, I think it happens after putting the PSP into sleep and back again.

just a theory,

if installed, doesn't the undiluted patinum give 2x extra ram memory or am i not being geeky enough.is that something different.

would it be possible to tap both the psp's memory and the extra U.P. memory to boost the brain power?

When converting to .bin using clmame I get a lot of files that are skipped. My 20 meg .rom set of Blazing star became 7 megs of .bin files.

Needless to say the game doesn't work.

I'm using the .106 exe of mame.

I assume that files being skipped is the reason why some games wont work?

How can NJ call this an alpha (well, beta now)?
It's is running over 50 games at full speed since alpha1!
Outstanding devlopment quality!!

As I say before: The Neo-Geo God!
First neocdz, and now this.

And the new cache workaround rocks!
Thank you again NJ!!

Yeah, I am continually impressed and left in awe when coders like NJ deliver on such a massive scale.

I noticed that you can switch the bios now and choose AES (Console) bios. Does this mean that we could now use ROMS with the .rom extension avoiding the need to convert them?

The way your able to do all this you should try N64 you probablie can do wonders with it.

First post people so be kind!!!:o

Im having problems getting these mvs emu's to work!?!?
This is how ive got it layed out
E:/psp/game/1.0/NGEPSP/ROMS and in this roms folder i have the NEOGEO.ZIP which contains my uni-bios.rom file all zipped up and also in roms i have two neo geo games overtop.zip and neodriftout.zip
The problem i'm having is when i select L for the bios (ive tried a few) it tells me this error "sfix.fx" not found.. and when i try to load a rom i get another error which i assume is related to the bios problem.
Im running this emu through the latest version of eloader (GTA EXPLOIT) and my firmware is 2.6 I'm aware of other people on the net running these emu's in this way so it must be me being stupid!!!:o
Ide really appreciate any advice and many thanks and apologies if this has been delt with elsewhere i have searched but not found anything relating to my predicament.
