View Full Version : Super Mario 64 Retexture!

I think i'll release my first 'proper' retexture now for super mario 64 here:

but first this is what it is...

what is retexturing?

it's when you use a plugin such as RICE for project 64 to overlap current textures in the game without illegaly modifing them.

where to get rice...

here's a link here (Open in new window): http://www.box.net/public/y3lfe6zqt6

what's in this retexture?

so far i've done the GUI and most of the of the castle yard in nes sprites...here's a screenshot (note: it's an old one so it's a bit more updated than the screen shot)

http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/mymod1.JPG

how to install

i suggest using project 64 for this because i don't know if this works on any other one...once downloaded rice extract than put the files in the plugin program file for project 64 once done delete the file that tells you to 'move bmglib to emu folder' so it doesn't confuse emu and as it says move the bmglib file to emu folder (the main one) NOT plugin folder! once that has been done create a folder called hires_texture (it must be exact!) than once you extract my project (which should be attaed below) move the SUPER MARIO 64 folder into hires_texture. After all that stuff is done boot up the emu go to settings make graphic plugin rice and go to configure graphic settings make sure advanced settings is turned ON after that go to texture settings and click load hires textures if available. AFTER ALL THAT load up the mario 64 rom(being your own of course) than VOILA! I hope you all enjoy here it is now.

If you like that theres lots more over at Emutalk (http://www.emutalk.net/forumdisplay.php?f=110) theres a good many wip ones there as well, I'm looking forward to the Evangelion one myself. 1964 works well with that rice plugin as well for anyone preffering that over PJ64, cant think why they would though really.

I see nothing wrong with reviving old threads, as long as there is a constructive post to follow, which there is.

Great job, it's looking nice!

If I were you, I would create a new thread in the Submit News (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=117) forum section about your Retexture Pack, along with a vBulletin forum attachment to the file to download. It would surely attract more attention once the thread is moved to a more appropriate news section. ;)

C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture\SUPER MARIO 64\SUPER MARIO 64

There was one time when i changed the render engine to OpenGl and it started to work but all the textures were movin everywhere.

your putting the bmg.lib file in the wrong place. You have to put it in the folder or place where your emulator is.

Oh yes, I like your NES edition, supersoni88! It's very nice. It certainly gives the game a retro feel.

hi there!

i noticed some of you have been sucessful with retexuring and was wondering if you could help me.

the images have been dumped to their respective folders, but the emulator seems unwilling to load my modified imaged.

below is my dir structure:
Plugin

├hires_texture
││
│└SUPER MARIO 64
│ │
│ ├ci_bmp
│ ├ci_bmp_with_pal_crc
│ ├ci_by_png
│ ├png_all
│ └png_by_rgb_a

└texture_dump

└SUPER MARIO 64
├ci_bmp
├ci_bmp_with_pal_crc
├ci_by_png
├png_all
└png_by_rgb_a

also this error pops up whenever i access settings:
failed to load ricevideo6.1.3DX9.dll
(the file is alongside plugins)

please help me.. someone.. anyone
