Hirai: Microsoft keeps copying Sony!

Ding ding! Everybody back in the ring! Those cheeky execs are at it again, this time with Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Kaz Hirai accusing Microsoft of stealing all Sony's ideas. Buckle up boys, this could get rocky!

Speaking to PlayStation Magazine, in an avalanche of irony so heavy it's a surprise the weight of his words didn't squash the poor guy flat, Hirai winged, "Every time we go down a path, we look behind and [Microsoft is] right there - we just can't shake these guys. I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do. If you look at their strategy in other business areas as well, they tend to do that."

Woah, fighting talk there buddy! That's not all though, according to Hirai, Microsoft's strategy of launching an HD-DVD add-on is all cock-eyed too. "And the other thing is, you take a look at, for example, the fact that we incorporate the Blu-ray drive from day one," Hirai frothed, "You're not going to be asking me, 'So, talk to me about this Blu-ray add-on that you have. Does it work for games? Is it just for movies?' That's exactly the kind of pitfall you fall into if you launch something that's too early, too premature..."

What I don't understand is... unless they make the controller with an extra button or something it will most likely need to be moved (think wii mote). When one of the Executives at Microsoft talked about Sony's controller they said in essence "people don't want that". If they go back on their word, then they are even more money hungry than before.

I think it is funny that Microsoft pretends like they know that their console is prepared for stardom and they go and do something like this because they are scared of the Wii and PS3.

Of course it does. Look at it this way, they are taking all the good things from the other consoles and putting them on the PS3. That means that no console gets to brag about features when that sponge of a PS3 has them all.Well, except rumble. None of them are polished though, so most of them are just meh.

the reason ps3 is so high priced is because it has the most functions then any other cosole.

Yeah, the most RIPPED OFF functions. PS3 will be to overrated. It's all about the Wii. The Wii will most likely outsell PS3...Because Smash Bros Brawl will kick most other game's asses. It IS the ultimate party game. And maybe the ultimate game to play while drunk or on a crazy sugar rush...

lol I am just joking. I really don't want the PS3 to fail, I love Nintendo and I couldn't be talking right now without Microsoft. Sony's Playstation provided me years of fun and I really don't want them to do something wrong.

Truth is, Sony's controller was in production before the Wii, which would could actually mean that Sony didn't copy. The guide button was a needed addition and they promised the same internet play on the PS2 and it skipped along. Plus the blu-ray thing can get mighty confusing, I still don't know if it will become a betamax or not...:o

i thought sony was doing the old boomerang thingy till everybody complaind that the control was shitty, then sony took a desperate measure to give more advantage, for people. like that, sony took the fancy idea of copying the nintendo wii motion sensers thingy in their control plus they had changes the shape and still remain the silver color PLUS put a button in the middle( like the xbox360)

Actually, Sony copyrighted an idea for an online service that is essentially what Xbox live is now, and this copyright was made 2 years before live was launched.

Actually I agree with you but for different reasons, Porn has become pretty much divorced from a physical media, I know porn DVD's exist and I'm sure there will eventually be both HD-DVD and Blu-ray titles but so much more material seems to be available in the form of downloadble content (either paid for or P2P). Its likely that Porn will be at the forefront of online digital distribution.

Well if we go by the 2005 E3 convention Sony copied from Nintendo & Xbox ideas where there own> Don't get me wrong i love playstation and mi xbox 360 is nothing but a paper wait. But if we go by this article playstation hows all for loosing this accusations that everybody copied them.
