EA reveals the first two factions for its upcoming Xbox Live Arcade (http://kotaku.com/tag/xboxlivearcade/) title RISK: Factions (http://kotaku.com/tag/riskfactions/), with the humans and feline horde bringing an element of wackiness to the game than fans have not been missing for years.
Silly factions do battle on the classic RISK map. On one side we have the stodgy, militarist humans; on the other, kittens. I can barely contain my anticipation for the remaining three undisclosed factions. Will it be puppies, robots, and ninja? How about vegetables, hamsters, and large pieces of cardboard?
At first I was dubious about the value of adding light-hearted humor to the classic strategy board game, but upon further thought I realize that it really doesn't matter what faction you play, as long as the core RISK gameplay remains mostly intact.
Besides, I'm sort of fond of kitties.
