The nominations, announced Saturday, are for "Outstanding Real-Time Visuals in a Video Game" and "Outstanding Visual Effects in a Video Game Trailer." The VES' eighth annual awards also recognize achievements in other visual media, from motion pictures to television.
For real-time visuals in a game, the nominees are Infinity Ward, for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2; EA Canada, for Fight Night Round 4; Naughty Dog, for Uncharted 2, and Slightly Mad Studios, for Need for Speed Shift.
For trailers, the nominees are FreeStyle Games, for DJ Hero, Bungie, for Halo 3: ODST, BioWare, for Mass Effect 2; and BioWare Austin, for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The award winners will be announced Feb. 28 in Los Angeles.
