http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/9/2010/01/500x_mlb.jpg Pitching a perfect baseball game is a difficult feat, having occurred only 18 times in the history of Major League Baseball. Do it once in 2K Sports (http://kotaku.com/tag/2ksports/)' MLB 2K10 (http://kotaku.com/tag/mlb2k10/) and you could win one million dollars.
2K Sports is issuing a challenge to players who pick up the latest version of its annual baseball outing between March 2nd and May 2nd. In celebration of MLB 2K10's improved pitching and hitting mechanics, the publisher is offering up a cool million to anyone who records themselves going nine innings without a batter reaching base.
"Every baseball fan knows pitching a perfect game (http://kotaku.com/tag/perfectgame/) is one of the most difficult and rarest accomplishments in all of sports, and that's what makes this million dollar contest so compelling," said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. "This is the chance of a lifetime, and I'm excited to see fans really try to go for it in Major League Baseball 2K10. I just hope they don't try against the Rays, because my teammates and I aren't going to make it easy on them."
To participate, fans need to play in the game's MLB Today mode, choose from available matchups, and then select the option to participate in the Major League Baseball 2K10 contest, which will make sure your game is setup correctly. Players will also have to record the entire game, submitting the recording to 2K Sports on a DVD. Video game record keepers Twin Galaxies International will verify the accomplishment, and someone will be one million dollars richer.
If you've got a knack for striking out virtual baseball players, keep an eye on 2K Sports official contest page for further details (http://www.2ksports.com/perfectgame).
