Are you ready to drop the hammer? Test your speed against greats like Cole Trickle, Rowdy Burns, and Russ Wheeler in Days of Thunder (http://kotaku.com/tag/daysofthunder/), coming this summer to PC, Mac, Xbox Live Arcade, and the PlayStation Network.
Yes, Piranha Games (http://kotaku.com/tag/piranhagames/) and Paramount Digital (http://kotaku.com/tag/paramountdigital/) Entertainment are making the dreams of early-90's racing movie fans come true with Days of Thunder. Based on the Tom Cruise vehicle, Days of Thunder does away with the drama of the film, instead keeping the tension on the race track, where it should be.
For a movie tie-in that's twenty years too late, Days of Thunder is packed with features. It's got four single player modes - Quick Race, Time Trial, Career Mode, and Derby Mode - online multiplayer for up to 12 players, a pit stop mini-game, and car customization, from spray and decals to performance tuning.
What the game doesn't have is Tom Cruise. Twenty years ago that would have been a bad thing. Now I'm not so sure.
