I have a PSP with v2.60 firmware and I don't have GTA: LCS. Downgrading doesn't seem to be an option since I want to be able to play MGA2 without problems.
Is there a way for me to run homebrew on my PSP?
Sorry if I'm asking something I should have understood by reading the appropriate posts but I feel I might be missing something.

Is it that much of a hassle? Can you be more specific about it?
I'm a real noob at this, can you recommend a downgrader that's idiot-proof? I just bought my PSP and I won't be able to replace it anytime soon If I brick it.
Will dev hook enable me to run MGA2 exactly as it runs with v2.60?

No way around the GTA thing?
I read that the exploit is in GTA's savegames, is there really a need for the UMD?
Excuse my persistence about this but I don't want to buy a game that seems like a bad version of GTA3 unless it's absolutely necessary.

It's necessary. I actually like GTA:LCS. And Devhook was not released today. It was released a long time ago, but updated keep coming out. Yes, you can play your 2.6 game on 1.5. So go and buy GTA. The easy 2.6->1.5 downgrader is supposed to be idiot-proof. dl.qj.net.

You could always just rent a copy of GTA:LCS and downgrade, if you dont want to buy it
